The narrators of the audiobook really make this a nail biting story in some parts. Overall though, the story kinda fell flat for me in the end.

Ummmm can you say new favorite book?!

Thank you NetGalley, Kimberly Belle and Park Row books for my early copy!
Talk about a heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat, ride! Even though this book takes place over the course of a couple hours, it packed a punch. I BINGED this one because I needed to know what was going to happen with Jade and the Bees (the kids!). Each page had my momma bear heart on full alert and the ending did not disappoint. Belle's books are always 5 star reads, but this deserves more. I highly recommend this one and cannot wait for December so I can get a physical copy on my shelf!

Still reading, but I have thoughts/questions:

- Is Baxter 2 or 6? He is written like a toddler— his manner of speaking and absolute inability to discern a dangerous situation— and it is driving me insane.

- Half of this book is the masked intruder asking Jade where here daughter is hiding. Seriously, it’s just variations of “where is she?”and “I don’t know!” over and over and over.

- What is the intruder’s endgame? He demands ransom and holds the wife and kids at gunpoint, but the husband *knows* who the intruder is, so even if the husband winds up delivering the money, the intruder would eventually go to prison for false imprisonment and assault. This makes NO SENSE.

- Oh. My. God. So the intruder is, at once, the husband’s spurned ex-business partner *and* the man who installed the hidden cameras in their home? I guess Cam works such long hours that he had no clue who installed their security cameras, only Jade? This is very stupid.

- I never want to hear the name “Beatrix” again. It’s such an awful name, and I think her name was mentioned no less than 171,199 times.

- intruder to 9 year old girl: put the gun down, missy. Nine year old child to intruder: I’m not your missy!

I have NEVER rolled my eyes harder.

I wasn't sure how I'd like the 4 POVs, but it made the story fast paced. Very good read. The interview chapters were my favorite.

I loved Belle's Dear Wife, but My Darling Husband fell flat for me. The idea is a wife discovering shocking truths her husband had kept hidden, a premise handled much better in [b:Pretty Girls|25574782|Pretty Girls|Karin Slaughter|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1432205734l/25574782._SY75_.jpg|42937661]. Except in My Darling Husband, Jade discovers these truths while being held hostage, along with her children, in their home by a masked man demanding a ransom. It's a good idea, but it didn't draw me in and I just didn't care about the story. On top of that, Jade's stream-of-consciousness narration is irritatingly repetitive, to the point when I thought I'd abandon it if she stated how she was tied to a heavy chair once more. She is constantly talking back and forth with the invader, which killed the suspense for me.

Just okay.

This was a quick, entertaining read. It wasn't necessarily "thrilling" but it had its moments of suspense. I would rate it a solid 3 - 3.5 stars.
