I'm not sure how to feel about this book.
I was excited to see what happened with Eloise and her story. While I do understand the motivations of wanting to get married suddenly, that decision felt rushed at the beginning of the story. Phillip having raging anger issues wasn't attractive or a good character plot point at all. His anger and having to fight back the urge to hurt his children was honestly really toxic.
Phillips refusal to talk with Eloise once they were married was garbage. Him thinking that spending no time with his new wife except in their bed is acceptable was really annoying. There were also a few times when series conversations were happening and he went straight to seducing Eloise instead of talking which really bothered me.
This book did feel more complete and rounded out at the end then the previous books in this series though, so that was appreciated.

Honestly this was a painful read. I kept waiting for the book to redeem itself but it just didn’t.

Should come with TW if you have had any issues with depression in general and especially postpartum depression because the characters (and I have to assume the author) have absolutely zero compassion towards this subject and are constantly complaining/speaking ill of the memory of a woman who suffered from severe cases of both.

This may have ruined the series for me, and Eloise’s story was the one I most looked forward to.

Benedict and Eloise are my two favorite in the Bridgerton series this far. Knowing Eloise from the previous books and TV show, she finally finds her match. A wonderful story that makes up for the cringy Penelope/Colin book previously.

Eloise's story...my favorite : ).

Eloise always felt like one of the most relatable characters throughout the earlier books, perhaps down to her more modern sensibilities in her self assuredness, her cunning nature, or steadfastness as a loyal sister, friend, and daughter. The events that she this book off for her are infinitely human as well and the fact that Phillip’s lived experiences also drew from a deep well really aided the believability of their growing connection. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this entry into the series and it has risen to close to the top of the list for me.

I will say some parts of this book was slow, but I also thought how some things were funny especially with Philips children Oliver and Amanda. The beginning was really sad. I think this is the darkest prologue of them all so far. My favorite is when the brothers showed up. I can't help but moving on to the last half of this series, is that I find my interest not a high as I was with the first 4 because we saw much of the elder siblings interact with each other and barely heard much on the last 4 siblings. With Francesa's book being next its almost as if this is the first I will hear her speak! I still look forward to reading the series though. Julia has way of surprising me.

I think these novels really have a time and place. Family, love, a little spice. Perfect 3 star reads for me right now.

I love love after there wasn't love for an age. I always sigh when I finish a Julia Quinn book. Nothing new here moving along to the next Bridgerton.

1. "El duque y yo".
2. "El vizconde que me amó".
3. "Te doy mi corazón".
4. "Seduciendo a Mr. Bridgerton".

I am absolutely KICKING myself for not following through with this read last year.

If Eloise Bridgerton has 1 million fans, I'm one of them. If Eloise Bridgerton has 1 fan, it's me.

In both series and books, I have identified with Eloise the most. While in different contexts and circumstances, her plight for individuality, intellect, and purpose hit home for me, and she quickly became the character of my heart.

It was because of this that I couldn't help but be sympathetic to her- somewhat self-destructive- actions and tendencies in To Sir Phillip, With Love.

While this novel did fall into the trap of "one conversation would fix the problem", it was true to both her and Phillip's characters. I let that stop me from finishing the book the first time around (because as storytelling devices go, it is my most hated), but with season 3 upon us, I felt I owed it to her to try again, and I'm so glad I did.

This Bridgerton novel is a love letter to all the headstrong girls. We can be strong and caring, independent and lonely, loving and worthy of love, all at the same time. I liked that Eloise's story had a bit of its own identity compared to the others, and I would expect nothing less of her. (This novel also has some GREAT sibling scenes, and the Bridgerton wit and personality are just *chef's kiss*).

Long Live Julia Quinn <3
