so I read another in this series and I wasn't too impressed, but I LOVED this one! enough so that I have put the other 5 books on my wish list! I might just end up reading all of them now. Funny, charming book.....

So reading the other reviews, it appears people really didn't like Cal. There must be something about the format because I loved him. I listened to it, and Anna Fields made him very likable. I can imagine that if I read the book, I might think he's an insensitive prick, but the way Anna played him, he was sardonic and sarcastic and ultimately vulnerable and loveable. I don't agree with what Jane did, but she didn't do it intentionally to hurt him. She didn't even really think he'd think anything about her after it happened. But he did. Which was clue #1 that she meant more to him than anyone would have ever imagined. If he didn't care, he wouldn't have pushed Jodie to tell him more about her and wouldn't have found out about the baby. And he saved the birthday bow!!

I like how SEP matches people who you wouldn't think would run in the same circles. Or for that matter, DON'T run in the same circles. But they end up finding common ground and finding love in the process. I just wish the men weren't so pig-headed about realizing the love part of it. I guess if they weren't, there wouldn't be much of a story. Plus, these men have had women throwing themselves at them for years because of who they are, so it's probably hard to separate the good from the bad.

Unbelievably sexist. I imagine many readers won't mind since it is the man that is portrayed as a piece of meat. Jane is such a snob that it is almost impossible to feel sorry for her. The acrimonious nature of their relationship is easily understood, I disliked her self righteous attitude. She created this situation for herself.

I despise Jane and what she did. I don't like manipulations especially of this kind. There is nothing that could redeem what she did to make her a sympathetic or likable character. However, I found myself finishing this novel because I loved Cal's parents and I wanted to see how things resolved for them.

I don't believe someone would forgive something as egregious as what Jane did in such a short period of time, this book will be loved by people who feel the ends justify the mean but her decided lack of integrity is too much to get past. I have like some SEP books in the past even though her plot devices are nearly always over the top. I did not care for this at all.

Of the three books in this series that I have read to this point, this one is the best by far. Of course the plot is preposterous, but the writing is so light-hearted, filled with snappy dialog and great leading and supporting characters, and at several points it is laugh-out-loud funny.

While I'm not a fan of the premise (basically using the football star Cal Bonner for baby making purposes), I do like the idea of a professor and a football star getting together. I think it could have been done a little differently, but maybe that's a subject for another book. Otherwise, I liked how these two strong personalities clashed. I think Jan Darlington needed to be a little more mischevious. SEP teased at that near the beginning, but other than locking Cal out of the house and getting her own car there wasn't a lot of chicanery.

**re-read April 2010, I just love SEP books. I had forgotten how much I liked this book, the Cereal Killer part made me laugh until I cried!

I read this book first then Kiss an Angel, I gave this one 3 stars and will give the other 4. I love S.E.P and have enjoyed every one of her books.

I know the beginning was crude, even downright stupid. But there was depth and humor. The heroine was refreshing, yes she was condescending at times but so was he. The antics they've done to each other, especially her to him, PRICELESS. He was an immature stubborn brat that you still kept rooting for. Loved all the secondary characters (especially grandma) were a blast. There were parts that made you cry, cringe, mad and laugh. All in all great book!!!

What a bananas plot! Problematic elements, but the end and the character resolution is just perfection. I read it due to the Fated Mates pod and do not regret this at all!

I wanted something light and sweet for my weekend roadtrip, and this audiobook was the perfect companion. I thought it would be long enough for two roadtrips, and it was, except that I wanted to know what happened, so I kept listening long after I got home. I liked the characters in this book a lot and that the focus wasn't just on one relationship, but two. And they were both quite a parallel. I might have to check out more of the books in this series.
