The plot was very captivating, and I never felt bored. It pretty much jumps straight into action. The characters were pretty well rounded and diverse. My issue comes from the way the main charcater describes everything and the overuse of the word "cool". I understand that the author is trying to convey that the main character is confused and being rushed into things she does not understand. I also understand she is supposed to be from this world in a somewhat modern time going into a fantasy world that is much more anchient seeming. However, I feel like this aspect could have been conveyed using a wider variety of more modern slang or just not pushing this issue quite so hard. I felt noticeable lack of diversity in adjectives interfered with the world building.
Interesting fantasy/romance mix. A young woman who last her parents discovers that there is an alternate realm where everyone has a twin. For the right price a witch can switch you out if the twin is willing.
The h arrives in her new reality on her wedding day. Much confusion and hijinx ensue as the groom hates her counterpart. There are fairy tale elements and dragons and political machinations.
Enjoyable start to a series of connected books.

it was a good story! albeit a little long. but good nevertheless!
I am such a sucker for anything Kristen Ashley writes, she creates the perfect idea of what a man should be. None of them are perfect, they make mistakes and mess up but geez if anyone knows a real live Drakkar please send him my way :)
Seoafin (Finnie amongst friends) has an unquenchable thirst for adventure. When she learns that another world exists in where each person has a twin she decides she must go. Not only for the adventure but because this may be the opportunity she has wanted so long to reunite with her deceased parents, or their twins rather. Princess Sjofn wants to escape her world and her arranged marriage to the Drakkar. She knows it's her duty to marry and produce the next heir to Lunwyn but she can't help that she doesn't like men. In her world being attracted to the same sex is no big deal, unless you are meant to reproduce for the good of your country. Each of them set up with a witch in their worlds that are able to communicate and arrange the swap. When Finnie switches with Sjofn she finds herself being rushed out and into her wedding with the Drakkar. Sjofn failed to tell her she was to be married, that she was the princess, and that she had recently had assassination attempts. Drakkar can't stand Sjofn and hates the idea of being trapped with a woman for the rest of his life who prefers to have other women. He immediately takes her from their wedding and deposits her in a cabin without even assisting her in getting settled. Then he announces he will be back in two months. Of course the lovely Finnie does just fine on her own but Drakkar is in for a huge surprise when he returns.
***Spoilers***
Once Drakkar returns he learns from the elves of her identity. Without her consent or knowledge he orders the elves to bind her to this world forever instead of the one year time frame she originally had planned. While spending time together they each come to care about the other and Finnie has never been as happy as she is with her husband and her parents. She insists on coming along on all of the adventures and the two of them grow to love the other. When Drakkar finds the powder used in their world to prevent pregnancy, he has it replaced with a placebo. She ends up pregnant but after the initial shock is thrilled to start a family with her husband. When the witch Valentine from our world catches up with Finnie and reveals the things her husband has been hiding she is furious that he would make these decisions without even consulting her. As she is screaming and throwing a fit they are ambushed and Drakkar is killed and Finnie is captured. She is overcome with grief and guilt but continues on to outwit her captor, her cousin Broderick. He planned the attack because without his cousin and her heir he will inherit his fathers portion and Finnie's portion and rule it all. Finnie does outsmart him and his lover Phobin, killing them in the process. Her mother has been captured and everywhere there is war. Finnie spends her time caring for the injured to help keep the grief away. Apollo of the House of Ulfr, and Drakkar's cousin who was a widower understood the sorrow that Finnie was feeling and vowed to stand by her whether she carried a girl, or the next King of Ludwyn. He told Finnie later if she wanted he would be willing to marry her for both their benefit. Their children would have a mother and father, and Finnie and her child would be safe. He knew she would never love him like Drakkar but he also understood. Then they were ambushed again, but this time the Dragons appeared. Finnie was confused because only the Drakkar had control of the dragons. Turns out the elves knew of his injuries and whisked him away to their lands to heal. When he returned he immediately came to her side, and together they saved the day. Well a little more than that happened but there was a HEA. In the end Valentine who felt guilty for telling Drakkar's secrets and causing Finnie to be angry before he was (not) killed, she brings Finnie's bff Claudia to their world to visit. Ulfr also meets with Valentine in the end and pays her to find his late wife Ilsa Ulfr.

Start of another 'must read' series from KA. Great story believable characters that I loved.
Finnie Wilde and Frey Drakkar have one of the best love stories written by Kristen Ashley.
Finnie is daring and bold, she craves adventure, but most of all, she longs to have her parents back.
Their death devastated her and grief consumed her.
But Finnie, being Finnie, didst succumb to despair. She had the money her parents left her, she discovered there was a parallel world where she had a twin, a world where her parents were still alive. So she found a witch, corresponded with her twin (what a Kristen Ashley typical heroine thing to do!!) and set about for a new adventure.
What Finnie didn't know was why her twin was eager to switch places with her.
Finnie found herself in a new world, minutes away from marrying a man she didn't know. that man being Frey Drakkar. A man who didn't like her at all but at the wedding ceremony gave her the best kiss ever!!
After the wedding, Frey took Finnie and left her at one of his cabins.
He returned a month later to find a new Finnie who intrigued him.
Upon finding herself alone, Finnie again tackled things head on: she made a home for herself in the cabin, she got to know the villagers and frequented the local tavern.
The real action starts from this point!
Frey discovers a whole new person . This Finnie, isnt the one he married, the one who held no passion for him.
This Finnie saw everything as an adventure, delighted in any new discovery. She stood up to him and spoke her mind. She was social and likable.
Frey was captivated by Finnie and agreed to woo her (translation: two dates and then sex :))
Right before the deed was done, Frey was called away by Elves!! you can imagine Finnie's excitement at the discovery of their existence!!
The Elves revealed the truth to Frey: His Finnie was from another world, but his Finnie was also his true Winter Bride and he wasn't going to let her go.
Frey bound Finnie to his world and thus began a new adventure. Knowing the truth about Finnie makes him treasure her more.
Frey is an unusal Kristen Ashley alpha male.
We know he has power and wealth, he commands both the Elves and Dragons, but he is gentle (in a typical KA male), he plays along with Finnie, lost in her wonder and discovery.
Frey and Finnie hardly ever fought. When they did, it was explosive.
But thought it all, Frey was the most attentive, gentle, sweet, loyal husband.
He indulged Finnie, took her with him in his travels and adventures.
Frey and Finnie had formed a real partnership. Finnie , in her courage and sense of adventure, found bliss beyond her wildest dreams....

Frey never fails to capture me immediately. Love the fantastical element in the story, and Finnie's fervor for life. A grand love story, and beautifully written tale.
