Listen, I'm not sure what Stacey put in this book but I want MORE. I absolutely loved this book. I loved Patrick and Nina, and THAT ENDING. Literally obsessed.

While the start is a bit slow, two thirds of the book is well paced. By the end I was practically biting my nails worried about the out come of my favorite characters!

There was just something not right with this book,can’t put my finger on it. Well written, unique storyline with new magical abilities etc. I found the world building lacking and confusing, no idea what timeline this is meant to be set in, so as a visual reader I struggled imagining this place and the people. The beginning felt rushed, and proper development of characters was not there, so I didn’t have any connection to any of the characters. And the characters personalities that were depicted in the beginning seem to flip later on in the book. This book didn’t capture me at all, I found it a chore to read. Yes there is a cliff hanger and a second book. I have no interest in reading the second book, and have no care for whatever happens to the characters.

The first half was really slow and while I was really interested in the world and storyline, I had a hard time getting into it. However, half through I was sucked in and my jaw was on the floor for pretty much every page the last 30%.
Nina was infuriating and I wanted to shake her for not just being honest with Patrick…but what else can we expect from such an unreliable narrator. 🫠
Jaw dropped. Heart shattered. Everything’s on fire (literally). And now I need book 2 so I can continue spiraling.
