This is a great book, but the topics weigh heavy on me. I now spend time thinking about Elena and Mauro's family along with all of the people in the world whom this story represents who endure hardships, dehumanization and danger while clinging to hope.

Read like a memoir; a powerful story about a family’s separation after immigrating to the States.

This book provides an intimate portrait of a family divided between Columbia and the United States, and the hardships they have to endure because of their immigration status. The plot can be slow and the execution is a little clumsy (e.g. narrators switch without warning or explanation) but it provides important commentary on the immigrant experience.

Generational experiences of immigration told wonderfully with care, love, and attention. As a first generation latine, a lot of Infinite Country felt familiar. The risks we take, the identities we've fostered, and the sacrifices made to get where we are now....
