This is such an amazing book. It’s incredible how the author frames the story through the eyes of the women affected and how alternative realities are explored. Making Ansel be the reader is also an interesting choice and love how she never romanticized his actions.

Saffy is such a badass i love her

This was such a nuanced thoughtful deconstruction of a killer and the lives affected by him. I like the writing style too, it kept me hooked even through some slower moments in the middle. I will be thinking about this for a while.

One day I will finally learn that I just don't like literary novels. This was not that day.

I understand what the author was going for, but this book just wasn't for me. It's way too traumatic.

Beautifully written. It's hard to empathise with characters when you only spend a couple of chapters with each but the author made sure to give her female characters a brightness that shines through the dark.

i absolutely loved this. it was so introspective, i loved how the author did not lead you to believe one way or another. they simply told a story, and you can take it as you want. i loved the multiple POV’s and how they all related to the death row inmate. the ending was so beautiful.

I went into this book pretty blind from a youtuber recommendation and I was honestly blown away by the prose and storytelling, I love that the author made the women in this story feel real and important when so much of our culture is focused on the men who commit violent acts against them. Truly one of my favorite reads of 2022.
