Even weeks after finishing this book, I still have mixed feelings. I enjoyed it but the majority of the book felt like it just dragged its feet and that made reading this sometimes feel like a task. But! I liked the characters and the setting was so vivid and beautiful to read. I do believe I will be reading the sequel because I do wish to know what happens next with all of the characters. And to read more about lavish parties, gambling, and pretty dresses.

First- warning- Enchantée and All That Glitters is the same book that had a title change.

French revolution from the perspective of a girl who is using magic to save her sister from poverty and jumps between the worlds of the poor and the aristocrats, and of course there's a boy. More lighthearted than Les Mes, but far darker than Aladdin.

This story was a rollercoaster of emotions as you follow the life of Camille just before the French Revolution breaks out. There are some moments that don't flow in the book and that seem a bit forced, but overall the story was lovely and the characters relatable.

Fantasy, romance and the French Revolution - it seems like the perfect combination for me. I just didn't quite like the characters enough to get fully invested.

I enjoyed the magic and the court drama and the romance. But just a bit too YA and a smidge too long.

This book takes traditional ideas of magic and turns them around. Magic isn’t something that people can use freely whenever they want, there’s a price for using it, an expensive one at that. And in a book where money and the disparity between those that have it is so prevalent, the concept of payment for magic just fit so well.

I greatly enjoyed this book and it’s fictionalized look into French court and the upheaval of the French Revolution. The pacing was, at times, a bit slow and I struggled to move through certain sections of the book. But overall I enjoyed the themes on wealth, movement up the social ladder, and all the negative things that come with each one of them. I also enjoyed the message of hope and freedom. I’m excited to see what the author does with the second book.

This was the first book Subscription box I got and read. Now it has almost been 4 years since I've read this book and let's just say this book didn't stick with me that much. It definitely was a genre I don't reach for often and I do remember really struggling to get through this book like it felt like it took forever to get through but regardless I did have a fun time. I don't think I will continue this..duology? It's been too long so I would have to reread the book which I don't plan on doing.

Enchantée: Enchanted, often used when meeting others for the first time.

This book is stunning, it kept me up for hours and the cover is just -

Surprisingly, I got some Red Queen, Caraval and even Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir vibes because of the 18th Century French Revolution Paris backdrop with double identities and secrets between two people.

It did feel like insta-love to begin with, but I soon found myself enjoying it after a while, especially with the dazzling glitter of court, Paris, and romance.

I got a real insight to the French Revolution, and...french! Yes, there was so much french included with the dialogue proving immensely educational.

This is so underrated; I haven't the slightest clue because it deserves to be read by all you fantasy lovers out there. Books these days fail to motivate me (such as Passenger) but this successfully revived me. Hats off to Gita Trelease!
