A Kingdom of Ruin

The story drags for the most part of the book but it leads to a more exciting ending. She's been in captivity, away from Nyfain and her family and in new territory. There are new characters introduced, a love triangle, plot twists, turning points and Hadriel's POV. Of course, Finley is the more obvious heroine of the series but Hadriel's heroism and bravery is underestimated despite his cowardice. He is definitely my favorite character in the book. I quite enjoy his dark humor especially with Cecil and his misadventures with Leala. Hannon is also my favorite character and I am curious to know what his animal is.

If you’re a fan of the main characters getting back together quickly after being separated, this book is not going to be for you. It takes about 80% of this book for the couple to be reunited and it is a sllloooooowwww process!

A Kingdom of Ruin felt very similar to A Throne of Ruin in that it was very repetitive. There was no need for this book to be over 500 pages. The first 400 or so pages were a repetition of Finley getting whipped and put back into her cage to heal and Nyfain moping because he missed Finley but didn’t want her to return.

I understood the need for Finley to build relationships with the other dragons, the wolves, and the fairies but I feel like we got more story about her mistreatment than we did about her building relationships.

Once again, my favorite characters in this whole book were Hadriel and Leala and I was even more excited to see some chapters from their perspectives! Without those, I’m not sure I would have even given it 3 stars. Hadriel’s dialogue had me cracking up on more than one occasion - how in the world that happened in such a dire situation, who even knows!

ugh

Again train wreck I can’t seem to look away from, this one was better than the first two at least plot wise but sheesh, the dialogue is cringe

Seriously the best beauty and the beast retelling

The way the characters can find hope and determination in the most sanity breaking conditions is laudable. The hilarious banter and delicious steamy scenes make this fun to read. Laughing and crying with the characters is easy. Now to bite my nails anxiously as I wait for the next book to find out what happens after the MASSIVE curveball ending.

I have absolutely been loving the way this story is unfolding! I have never picked up a series by KF Breene that I didn’t love, but I feel like there is something so special about the Deliciously Dark Fairytales. Each book has been such a refreshing take! This book is absurd and ludicrous, IN THE BEST WAY. The characters are endlessly entertaining! Deliciously Dark fits as a series title so perfectly.
