Cute delightful contemporary romance with a small town and a farmer. I enjoyed this a lot and definitely liked the character’s relationship as well as Gennie (who was a delight).

The main problem was the length otherwise this would have been a solid 4 for me. I felt it was dragging and dragging and I was so bored at times I was skimming through pages which legitimately weren’t adding anything to the story or the plot. I also felt like the conflict was pretty thin and I despise a marriage of convenience (especially because to Noah’s point this is all legally totally pretend) but was willing to let it go. Overall a cute read but could have used a very heavy handed cutting edit on all the filler.

Fucking Imogene for the win!

I wanted a frilly standalone book to wrap up my year of reading. This popped up a few times in my search so even though it wasn’t wintery, I chose it.

Holy hell, did it surprise me. Instead of a cute light romance, I fell head over heels.

It was adorable, heartwarming, sad, hilarious and so much more.

If you don’t mind a broken lovely earring loving female, hot grumpy Daddy Bread Baker male and the best fucking pirate on earth this will be your jam!

Haha I know!

I adore this book. I loved it so much on the first read and it stands up on the second one. Gennie makes me laugh and Noah is swoony.

Warning: MMC with on page feelings

Canterbary does an excellent job writing a male with feelings, a child with trauma, and real friendships - three things that authors often get wrong. Supporting characters were good, but could have been developed more (too much tell not enough show). However, first book in a series does require a lot of explanation. If you appreciate a child who swears like a pirate, STEAMY scenes, and well written dialogue get this book right f’ing now ( as Gennie would say).

This book was a bit of a slow start for me, but once it picked up I LOVED it! (I think my problem was I felt like there was a lot of internal monologue in the beginning and that makes it feel slow, but that’s a me problem!)

I loved Shay and Noah! Despite what she went through, she was a rock for so many people with such a sunny outlook on life. And I love me a grumpy man, but what a love even more is a grumpy man who blushes and gets flustered and then is large and in charge behind closed doors (pun intended 👁️🫦👁️🍆💦🔥).

Between the pining and yearning, constantly calling Shay “wife”, and a fair amount of “who did this to you?”, this book was top tier!
