Warning: MMC with on page feelings

Canterbary does an excellent job writing a male with feelings, a child with trauma, and real friendships - three things that authors often get wrong. Supporting characters were good, but could have been developed more (too much tell not enough show). However, first book in a series does require a lot of explanation. If you appreciate a child who swears like a pirate, STEAMY scenes, and well written dialogue get this book right f’ing now ( as Gennie would say).

This book was a bit of a slow start for me, but once it picked up I LOVED it! (I think my problem was I felt like there was a lot of internal monologue in the beginning and that makes it feel slow, but that’s a me problem!)

I loved Shay and Noah! Despite what she went through, she was a rock for so many people with such a sunny outlook on life. And I love me a grumpy man, but what a love even more is a grumpy man who blushes and gets flustered and then is large and in charge behind closed doors (pun intended 👁️🫦👁️🍆💦🔥).

Between the pining and yearning, constantly calling Shay “wife”, and a fair amount of “who did this to you?”, this book was top tier!

not what i expected from the cover at all!! this book was really wholesome, had some good character development and the love story was cute. wouldn't usually be my vibe but i definitely enjoyed it - took me about a day to finish, so that says it all

Very cute very cozy good time book

Easily one of my top reads this year. Don't let the length scare you, this book is so stinking good you'll fly right thru. I was seriously surprised when I got to the end. You know when you read a book and are sad when it's over because you just want more, need more? This is that book. It's so jam packed with details and laughs and history and just so much amazing story. You have a 6 year old that's absolutely one of the best kid characters I've ever read. She made me laugh more times than I can count. Noah is EVERYTHING. Like every hero we've ever wanted. I loved Shay too, just as much. She was so flawed and still amazing. I've only read a few books by this author, so I don't know if all her books are as good as this one, but I can say this is worth reading.

This was such a fun cute read. I give it a 4 star rounding up because NOAH is husband material! Everyone deserves to be loved and adored the way Noah does for Shay.
It’s a small town romance with marriage of convenience but little to her knowledge, he’s pined after her since high school. He’s also the guardian of his troubled 6yo niece who is foul mouthed and acts like a pirate most of the time. The banter is funny and I was laughing throughout the entire reading journey. It was the perfect palette cleanser with great side characters too.
