It was cute, I would have liked more conversation about the fact that he's been in love with her since high school and about how they'd had plans to come back to town, which he just suddenly stopped being mad about and moved on from?
Also, that child does not act like a 6yr old. At all. Not even a little bit. I'd have believed them to be 12yrs old. A 6yr old wouldn't be running off on a farm by themselves to visit animals unaccompanied and how had she even learned quite so many swear words? The child was only used to further the plot and add drama, not to be an accurate representation of reality.

I couldn't give it a higher rating because I wanted an FMC with a stronger backbone . she should have at least slapped the ex for what he did .
3.5 ⭐️ Small Town Romance with a twist!
The fact that they were friends in high school, and all the little details that come out of that, were my favourite parts of this book. However, I didn't like either of the MCs personalities. They were definitely cute together, but neither really felt like a real person, let alone a 30-something adult. And a 6-year-old with that vocabulary AND grammar? Yeah, I'm not buying that.
I loved the BFF group and Noah's niece's personality. They were the highlights for me. I think I'm just tired of the 'ditzy, sad girl with low self-esteem' and 'broody, assh*le dude with a troubled youth' pairing. There were things about their story that I loved, but almost as many things that felt clunky. Like, I'm sorry, but this woman completely forgot everything she ever talked about with her supposed best friend from high school? Phones existed 15 years ago. They could've easily kept in touch! Anyway, there are some things that just don't make sense to me in this story.
Still, it was pretty good, and I can definitely see the appeal. And I'm giving it an extra 0.5 for the fact that there's no 3rd act break-up alone -but seriously these two were dragging their feet so much, there were basically a lot of tiny break-ups (aka them refusing to see reality or each other's feelings).

This could have been a very easy 5 star if only it had been a good 100 pages less and Noah didn’t repeat “wife” like it was a pet name. The communication could have been better also but ultimately I loved the story and the characters so I kept truckin through to the end.

cute and fun and spicy!
a little cheesy and corny but hit the spot. Noah kinda felt like an Elsie Silver mmc which scratched the itch. Surprisingly didn’t drag or feel too long for a 500 page romance book, I was entertained the whole time
He did call her “wife” an atrocious amount of times

Still feeling so lukewarm about this book 250 pages in. It’s wild to read 250 pages of something in my free time that I’m not vibing with. We should all get better and DNFing books we feel are mid. Life is too short.
