I listened to this as an audio book and holy crap. It’s so much better as an audiobook. I’m so glad I used my last audible credit on it! The twists and turns in this book were so spectacular I thought I was listening to a tv show. The narration is one of the best I’ve listened to in a long time and I’m still reeling from the ending.

The story is told in transcript form with numerous players in this game. It starts out with Ezra and Katie; two teenagers who were dating but then Katie decided to dump Ezra. Right at the end of the world and things go to shit. Both are picked up by separate spaceships and set on paths that neither of them expected. Because the deeper Katie digs into what happened that ended up with their planet being obliterated, the more danger she puts herself in.

Combine that with a rogue AI, a virus that causes people to go insane, and a government determined to keep it a secret. The lines of good and evil become blurred to the point where what’s right and wrong no longer matter. Survival is. But survival at what cost?

If you’re a fan of sci-fi and space travel and rogue government agencies this book is for you. The execution of this audiobook is seriously great and the story is top notch. 10/10.

When I started reading this I already knew if was out of my comfort zone. I like the way this book is set up as a file. It's unique. The writing is good. I liked the main characters Ezra and Kady. You really get to know them through all the files and reports. There are several funny and also suspenseful moment I liked. What I didn't like was what the virus did to people. Made me think of zombies and that is a subject I hate. Because of that I give this book a low rating. It proved to be just a bit too far out of my comfort zone. I won't be continuing the series.

Audiobook
Narration- 5+++++ stars
It's hard not to finish this book without a "well f*ck.". I may have used a few other choice descriptive words to pop a cherry on top of that feeling at the end. I never saw anything coming, nothing was predictable, nothing went as planned in my mind. The cast of narrators was absolutely fantastic. Their perfect reading had me nervously running and sweating with the crew. I was there, what an experience !
I'm not going to go over the story. This is a book to go into blind, no expectations. Be surprised, shocked and enjoy the ride.
Aiden was the most interesting, nutter, murdering, helpful, merciful living not living character. The authors made me question myself on my beliefs with him. I hope there is a spark if him in the next books. Katie was everything a heroine should be, that's all I'm saying.
Listen to this one, it is an audiobook you'll not soon forget.

Although I probably would have preferred to have read this as a traditional narrative, rather than through reports, text messages, and "audio" files, it's a personal preference rather than anything amiss with the execution. Amie Kaufman did a wonderful job telling this story in a unique way.

This was an engaging sci-fi, survival story at its best. I recommend this one.

A riveting epistolary novel set in the space-faring future, it feels both novel and firmly rooted in the mid-2010's. Some aesthetics and jargon is now dated and some plot points feel a bit cheesy, but if you're a fan of fast-paced science fiction horror with everything except the aliens, this is a romp. While I had my complaints at points and didn't love some of the narrative voices, none of that stopped me from staying up too late to finish it.

THIS BOOK WAS PHENOMENAL! Hands down the most different book i have ever read.
I gave this book Five Stars

Illuminae is a YA Sci-Fi fantasy (kind of love story?) novel, and it is a monster at almost 600 pages. But it was definitely worth the read. Although in the beginning the characters were a bit undefined and the story was quite confusing (my only issue with this book,) i quickly grabbed hold of the plot and story line. This story is told through confidential government files, E-Mails, chats, textual art, and technology.

I have never read a book in this format before and originally thought it would be kind of confusing but it was easy to adjust and i got sucked in!

There were so many plot twists and everything is described in surprising detail. There was clearly MAJOR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT by the end of the novel and i was extremely impressed with the way the story progressed.

I feel like my favorite character was AIDEN, even though it isn't human i felt like he became more than a computer by the end of the story and i cant wait to see him again in the next book. (See what i did there? ;))
