I really enjoyed the action and suspense in this one as Elizabeth tries to run from the bad guy who is obsessed with having her. Considering that Elizabeth works for Red Stone Security, I would have thought she would lean on her workplace for help instead of just depending on Porter — not that Porter can’t take care of her just fine.

Always helping Benny is the reason that Elizabeth and her ex, Porter, broke up. Porter was attracted to Elizabeth from the first time she saw her at Red Stone and even working together couldn’t keep him away. But he couldn’t stand by while Elizabeth risked her life to help her brother. I understand why Porter was so frustrated by Benny — he drove me up the wall for endangering Elizabeth — and I admired his determination to stand by Elizabeth. Now that they're back together he’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep her and protect her brother. Porter was wonderfully protective, strong, and sexy.

The pace and writing kept things going to the end and though there were a few moments when Elizabeth’s stubborn independence got in the way she also learns to lean on other people when it comes to helping Benny. I enjoyed that Elizabeth didn’t fight Porter too much on her protection and she seemed to quickly understand how in over her head she was. On the same note, both Porter and Elizabeth are so set on protecting each other that they don’t do the best job communicating all the facts.

Overall, I loved this book and it was a great fast paced read to fill an hour or two. I can’t wait to read about more of the Red Stone Security guys and get more wonderful suspense from Katie Reus.

No One to Trust
Red Stone Security Series 1
By: Katie Reus
Narrated by: Pyper Down

Fast paced, romantic, dangerous, this is what I love about Katie Reus and her romantic suspense stories! I have been waiting to sink my teeth into this series and am so glad I am finally starting it! Elizabeth finds herself in trouble when she tries to help out her brother Benny. All their lives, she has been there for him, but this time the expense is high. Owing a drug lord is not what she expected and now she finds herself in a predicament only her ex-boyfriend Porter can help her out of. Porter is there for her. His heart has never let her go, and the thought of her in trouble has him in complete alpha protective mode. Will he be able to keep her safe and save Benny? I love this novella, and the start of the series. It's a great introduction to the Caldwell brothers, and Red Stone Security. Suspense and passion in the perfect mix had me fixated on the outcome and I am lining up book 2 now!

Pyper Down gives a good performance. She builds up the suspense and keeps her voices easily distinguishable and entertaining. I enjoyed this listen.

Katie Reus kicks off her Red Stone Security Series with a great story about a sister who is willing to do anything for the older brother who'd do anything for her and the man who's family she works for that has vowed to protect her.

Elizabeth (Lizzy) Martinez works for Red Stone Security as their computer surveillance expert, despite what her society parents wanted her to do. While her parents have written off her brother, Benny, she will do anything for the older brother who saved her from abuse as a child. But where Benny's addictions before have had Lizzy bailing him out with mostly money, this time his request for help puts her directly in the path of a notorious drug cartel leader.

Porter Caldwell would do anything to protect Lizzy. Even though their relationship ended before it got started, he still would do anything to make sure that whatever trouble her brother gets into doesn't hurt her. But when he discovers Benny now has Lizzy on the radar of a drug cartel, he'll do whatever it takes to make sure this woman who is under his skin stays safe.

A lot happens in about 100 pages, but those events will keep you on the edge of your seat. Porter and Lizzy have the perfect chemistry with each other and when they finally give in to all the sexual tension surrounding them, they are HOT!

Katie Reus does a great job of building the Red Stone Security world and the characters we are going to get to know in future releases. She manages to emotionally pull you into the story from the very first paragraph and leaving you wanting more from the Caldwell family.

I liked it, but I didn't love it ╮(╯▽╰)╭
At first, I thought I found something similar to Rock Chick series by Kristen Ashley (one of my favourites), but they didn't have so much in common as I thought they would.

Now I shall explain why I gave it just 3 stars.
Action? A lot of it.
Lust? Yes.
A heroine with common sense who isn't completely stupid when it comes to her safety? I guess. (I mean yeah, she had some moments of stupidity, but mainly she let the good guys handle the situation which I admire her for)
A badass hero who doesn't lose his shit in dangerous situations? Hell yes.
But the romance was so lame. Really, I didn't feel the love between them. It's basically an action book and the romance was an afterthought. Now I'm not sure if that was the intention. Also, it took me a while to read such a short book.

Anyway, I liked it. It was okay, but it wasn't magnificent. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series, because it does look promising and I loved Grant

There is something about Katie Reus's Red Stone Security series that just works for me. It's quite a long series, with 15 books. No One to Trust is the first book in this series, and while I did like it, it's clear how much Katie Reus has grown as a writer.

No One to Trust is about Elizabeth Martinez and Porter Caldwell, who both work at Red Stone Security. Elizabeth is a computer security expert at Red Stone, and Caldwell is the son of the owner. Elizabeth and Porter dated very briefly before the start of the story but they broke it off. Elizabeth has a brother who always seems to get himself into trouble, and Elizabeth is always rushing to protect him. This caused a big conflict between Elizabeth and Porter.

The book starts off with a bang as Elizabeth rushes to a baddie's house to help her brother. In the process her life becomes in danger, and Porter rushes in to save her. As they try to figure out what is going on and how to keep Elizabeth safe, they rekindle their romance.

There is a lot I liked about No One to Trust. It's super fast paced, which really helps when you're in a reading funk. It's action packed, and it's hard to put the book down. I also liked Elizabeth and Porter, although neither of them are favorites. Elizabeth sometimes acts stupidly, and Porter is a bit too in control for me to love wholeheartedly. What really brings the book down, in my opinion, is the suspense plot. It's so fast paced but some things I couldn't understand. The baddies are always finding Elizabeth and Porter, but it's never explained how they find them. And then there is the bit about this car being blown up in Miami, and that was just a bit much for me.

But overall I did like No One to Trust by Katie Reus. If you like romantic suspense, and are willing to suspense disbelief a bit, give this one a try. This review was originally posted on Quinn's Book Nook

3.5 stars 🌟 - A short and fairly predictable, but enjoyable story. The actions of the female protagonist were sometimes a bit maddening. Great holiday/undemanding Read.

MMC protects FMC from a drug lord. The book is well-paced action wise but her TSTL decisions especially when it concerns her brother (that ended the relationship) are wtf. He's great though, he never stopped caring and had always protected her from afar. A bit domineering, but I get why. The romance is rebuilt amidst danger and on the whole, it works well enough for me. A entertaining quick read but would benefit from a stronger FMC.
