funny hopeful lighthearted reflective fast-paced

So first off, I should probably say that My Favourite Murder is one of my all time favourite podcasts (along with My Dad Wrote a Porno and Help I Sexted My Boss) and every time a new episode comes out I have to listen to it as soon as possible. But I have to say, I think that even if I wasn’t a fan already, even if I didn’t love Karen and Georgia as much as I do, I would still love this book. Karen and Georgia are so open and honest with all aspects of their lives and I’m so proud of them in a weird way because when listening to the audiobook you can just FEEL every emotion they are feeling, and yet it’s all told in such a way that I truly couldn’t put this down from start to finish. A fabulous, amazing and heartfelt read, which I will constantly recommend from now on. 5 stars

I found the authors to be trying too hard. Trying too hard to pull wise lessons from average life stories. Trying too hard to make said stories funny and dramatic. And trying to hard to show their humility and vulnerability. Just be vulnerable, don't explain to me that you are practicing vulnerability. I would have found this book more palatable had they called it a memoir rather than a pseudo-(I was offered a book deal so I have to find something seemingly wise to say)self help book.

This book read a lot like the podcast to me. It was really funny at times and also a little rambly at times. I ended up skipping a bunch (hey, like the podcast!) they’re both funny women and I like the concept, just didn’t love the book to read.

No surprise...this true crime junkie/murderino loved this book. I actually had really low expectations...as I thought it would be a simple memoir but both Georgia & Karen impressed me with their wit, wisdom, and self-realization.

I can't give it 5 stars because I reserve those for literature but I highly recommend this one. Even if you're not crazy, like me.

as a big fan of the podcast, I rate this book a 5 because I rate everything they do a 5. as a general reader, I think it’s really charming they both have such interesting stories & experiences to bring to the table. I did expect it to be a little funnier than it was, but it was great overall.

Yes. Very good. Team Karen and Georgia 4ever.

I like this book for me...and people who are really in my specific demographic, but probably not for those who aren’t. I mean, like specifically.
If you aren’t a white woman GenX born with pretty poor parents who had a pretty crappy latchkey childhood and made it through a drug phase and/or mental health challenges as well as a decent share of hardships (relative to what the authors present) ad have come out the other side in decent shape somehow, then this book may not be for you.
I liked it, but I can also readily see the privilege in it, even though the intent on calling out some of the patriarchy is good. It is not by any means intersectional. They acknowledge that they are working to learn more. Take it for what it is - it’s good hearted and entertaining.
Why am I mentioning all this?
It is also not really all about murders - it’s about the author’s lives and how they got through some challenges, met each other, and found common interests. I picked up this book because I have a background in forensic anthropology, not because I had heard of their podcast, but was pleasantly surprised by the stories they told. Worth the read.

I LOVED this. Even if I wasn't a Murderino, I thought this was engaging, funny and honest. The part about the cults--no, not those cults, but cults of perfection and success--really hit home. This is on my to-buy shelf.

NOVEMBER UPDATE: Finally got the audiobook and I promised myself I'd listen to it at the gym. Guess who went to the gym three days in a row? Excellent. It was like one long podcast episode and it was great.
