Cami now has a special place in my heart.
We first met Cami in [b:The Puck Drop|58432423|The Puck Drop (Central State, #1)|Jaqueline Snowe|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1628656102l/58432423._SY75_.jpg|91695232] as Naomi's twin sister. While Naomi is a serious bookworm who prefers lowkey outings or hanging out with her best friends, Cami is the wild, fun-loving sister who enjoys attention. I'll be honest. I wasn't drawn to Cami when we first met her in that book. I could feel that she cared about her sister and that the deterioration of her relationship with Naomi was painful for her, especially when she would call her Nana, but I also didn't understand how a sister couldn't realize that her sister was dating someone and then go out with him themselves. Okay, maybe one guy I could understand but three!!
We also met Freddie in [b:The Puck Drop|58432423|The Puck Drop (Central State, #1)|Jaqueline Snowe|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1628656102l/58432423._SY75_.jpg|91695232] and we saw that he was a *bit intense when it came to studying. After then reading [b:Holdout|56574147|Holdout (Moo U, #4)|Jaqueline Snowe|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1609945050l/56574147._SY75_.jpg|87496607], and getting to know Jonah a bit more, I think Michael is a magnet for these types of intense personalities.
Let's look at the characters. We have your nerdy bookworm who happens to be a tall, fit (yet not overly muscular) giant that is described repeatedly as Clark Kent. I've seen Superman in its multiple versions. Keep the blue spandex and red briefs for yourself; I'll take Clark and his thick black-framed glasses any day. Freddie is described as an introvert; it's hard for him to make friends, and he is very disciplined in his routines. He gets along well with his former roommate, Michael, and Naomi, Michael's girlfriend. However, there was some miscommunication with Cami the previous school year and now he avoids her, even though he is extremely attracted to her.
Cami...this poor misunderstood woman wears her attitude and ice queen façade like armor. She puts on a show for everyone to avoid pain and heartache, but the character that she plays only causes her more loneliness. She is passionate about dance and is a smart person, but because superficial people don't believe that beauty can have brains, she portrays the image of a dumb, sexy vixen and allows everyone to believe rumors and their assumptions that she is easy. This persona she created ends up costing her to achieve some of her dreams but instead of wallowing, Cami self-sabatoges. This leaves her in an endless cycle of doubting her self-worth.
Fate puts Cami and Freddie in each other's path, and they each take the time to get to know each other. Freddie decides to stop listening to the rumors and taking Cami at face value, and Cami decides to stop pushing Freddie's buttons and let herself be vulnerable with him. They eventually build a friendship that turns into more but they each have self-confidence issues that they need to work through to actually be together.
I have to say that the spice scenes were entertaining. Freddie may be a friendly giant who is shy around women and is an introvert, and he may have had spark-free sex with his ex-girlfriend, but the chemistry with Cami is sizzling. I must also admit that I was slightly shocked at how kinky Freddie is when he is turned on and what a dirty mouth he has on him. Clark Kent, look at you being all sexy. I didn't think you had it in you.
I found the story entertaining. As I've said before, I enjoy Jaqueline's books, and going back to read some of her earlier work makes me appreciate how she has grown as an author.

WOW, I didn't expect this book to be about Cami 😱
Yes, I still don't read blurbs or anything 🤣 So I was really surprised. Especially because I couldn't stand her in the previous book. She is Naomi's twin sister and they nearly hated each other for years.
But I really quickly changed my opinion about her and started to love her 😎 I felt even sorry for everything that happened in the past and at the beginning of the book. So much crap 😖 She is definitely not the strong girl everyone thinks she is.
Not loving Freddie wasn't an option at any point 😁 I already liked him in the previous book. He is a nerdy introvert. So he is the opposite of what everyone thinks about Cami. He is HUGE. God, he is so HUGE 🤩 He is such a teddy bear 🩷 But he is very strict with his Skittles 🤣 He isn't a sports guy, but he is huge 🥵
I loved the book. And I loved the "hate" that was between Cami and Freddie at the beginning 🤣 And the annoyance when they found out they aren't just neighbors, but will live wall to wall for a while 🤣 So lots of funny situations 😉 But with all the crap that happens in Cami's life, there is again a lot of sad moments 😞
Now I'm excited about who will be the couple in the next book 😎

This was a quick, easy, spicy read! I loved the banter & chemistry between Freddie & Cami. One of my favorite things is when the MMC is the shy, quiet, brooding type but a MAJOR dirty talker & simp for his girl — that’s exactly how Freddie was. I was sad for him and how his self esteem was so low after his last relationship but I loved how Cami really always tried to build him up and stop the voices in his head from beating himself up.
I’ve read all the books in this entire series now & I really enjoyed it!! Can’t wait to read more of Jaqueline’s backlist.

Ok I REALLY love this series! It reminds me a lot of the Off Campus series, which is my gold standard for hockey romances. I was so happy it was about Cami and Freddie, the twin sister and best friend from book 1; companion books are my fave. Cami had so many layers to her, as did Freddie, and watching them slowly start to trust each other and become friends (and mooooore) was paced so perfectly. They had amazing chemistry, in every way! The library scenes were so cute. The fact that she listened to Taylor Swift constantly and said Freddie smelled like mint and forests and a Taylor Swift album, I mean!!!! Morgan bait. I also liked the other storylines with the dance team and Freddie’s family. I was especially glad that there was minimal drama, especially compared to other romances. Still a couple misunderstandings but by and large they were great communicators which made their connection special. And wowwww this book was sexy! Really hot actually, very well written. Anyway READ THESE TWO BOOKS!!!! I sincerely hope there is a 3rd, and I have a feeling I know who it’ll be about :)
The rampant misogyny and slut shaming pulled this down a star for me. Cami’s smart enough to open her own business out of college, but she’s a party girl and likes to wear what she wants to wear. The horror. The audacity.
