Lady India Rochester just wants to be an archaeologist. She doesn't want to be ridiculed by Lord Ravenwood, her childhood betrothed and best friend nor by any of the other men in society. But when she is the one to tell him that the Rosetta Stone has been stolen, she inserts herself into his investigation.
Like his father before him, the Duke of Ravenwood is an agent for the crown. He's not only trying to protect his country, he's trying to clear his father's name.

**I received a complimentary ARC of Lenora Bell's FOR THE DUKE'S EYES ONLY via Edelweiss+ but all opinions provided are my own.**

Like best friends to bitter enemies to...maybe lovers???

Check out Lenora Bell's FOR THE DUKE'S EYES ONLY! Once best friends, Indy and Daniel are now bitter rivals and on a quest to find the missing Rosetta Stone. Will the quest bring them back together, or drive them farther apart?

I adore Lenora Bell's books. She’s crazy talented and innovative, and she writes books that have plenty of the good stuff we’ve come to associate with long-established voices of the genre but that also feel undeniably fresh. When you crack open one of her books—or tap the screen—you’ll get your Happily Ever After, but you’ll get lots of surprises on the way.

Let’s also not forget how funny these books are, and how the eccentric characters captivate. Indy in FOR THE DUKE'S EYES ONLY is to die for—she’s dramatic and theatrical, determined and adventurous. She has to combat the prevailing 19th-century attitudes toward women, specifically female archaeologists, and she does so with great aplomb and ingenuity (there's a particularly clever/hilarious mustachioed woman disguise). She’s pretty much the character a lot of us would love to be in a romance novel and/or real life.

If you’re looking for a sparkling love story that’s heavy on thrills and devotion, look no farther than Lenora Bell’s For the Duke’s Eyes Only. You will be amazed.

I hadn't read any of Lenora Bell's work prior to this, so it was a nice venture into a new author. However, I'm not sure if I was spoiled by reading one of my favorite author's new books right before this or if it just wasn't quite my cup of tea.

Solid premise, fun tropes of Enemies to Lovers, Misunderstandings, Secret spies, all that jazz. But somehow, the characters failed to grab me and I really wanted to just smush their heads together and be like "Talk! For the love of pete! Just talk!"

Indy, the main female character is interesting, but she feels like a very obvious Indiana Jones reference. Raven, her counterpart, is the other half of that equation. They play off each other well and their arguments are amusing and believable. Maybe a side character as a foil or more of their families might have helped, but something in the mix was off.

However, its a fun book and a solid bathtub read. Just not one I will be keeping on the reread shelf.

*I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was sooooo good you guys. Easily the best Lenora Bell book yet. I knew I was going to love it from the moment India and Raven appeared in the first School for Dukes book, and I was right. I literally binge-read this. Did the first 80% in an evening. I couldn't put it down!

The good: The chemistry between these two is incredible, but also complex. It's not straight "I loathe you, I want you", there are nuances that I haven't necessarily seen in similar plots.
The main characters were fun, exciting to read about, kept things chugging along nicely.

The Not-Quite: The ending. I won't spoil anything, but I will say there were things left hanging, but it could very well be resolved in the next book.

Over all, five shiny gold stars and a huge high five to Miss Bell.

Also I got this e-arc from Edelweiss, so thanks, Edelweiss for being such a boss!

I am beginning to see that the spy trope is just not my favourite.
It was okay but there were too many secrets and unsaid things until he very end.

I liked that she was a archeologist and how the antiquities were part of the story as well as the mystery.
