A book that begs to be read aloud and shared with others. Hope bursts from these pages and the vibrant illustrations invite the reader to smile and dream of what’s possible.

Beautiful language and pictures. The illustrations support the theme brilliantly by showing the growing number of community members participating in everyday and kid-achievable acts of care. Furthermore, giving the cast different instruments provided an excellent metaphor for how everyone brings different strengths and skills to the community.

This was part of a lesson about using different sources to learn about MLK Day. I do not believe this book was the right fit for that lesson and would be interested to try it near the end of a poetry unit or an illustration study. In this case, the students mostly commented on how big the guitar was compared to the character.

A beautifully written book with exquisite artwork. There is nothing to say about this book other than it's perfect.

Marvelous. Bright bold verse illuminated by bright bold illustrations communicates a universal message: each of us is a unique instrument playing our unique tune; together we can create, harmonize and share our song to be played and built upon through new generations. Pass it on.

September 23, 2021 Update:

I can hear change humming
In its loudest, proudest, song.

I don't fear change coming,
And so I sing along.

Poetry is best read aloud, especially if the work is written by [a:Amanda Gorman|17342520|Amanda Gorman|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png]. Seeing as this is a picture book though, I decided to listen to the audiobook while reading along (which I highly recommend doing)!

This was a fairly short picture book and audiobook (only 4 minutes long) but it was still packed with lyrical verses and gorgeous illustrations.

This is a poem about change (obviously) that uses music as a metaphor with accompanying artwork illustrating the many ways change can happen (ex. picking up garbage, helping others, etc.).

One of my favourite lines from this poem is:

I hum with a hundred hearts,
Each of us lifting a hand.

I use my strengths and my smarts,
Take a knee to make a stand.

Honestly, I can read this book over and over (and listen to Gorman read it over and over) and not get sick of it.

Also, can someone please turn this into a song?

Happy publishing day!!

January 14, 2021 Update:
We finally have a target publishing date (September 21, 2021) and you can now pre-order the book!

Honestly, I've become an even bigger fan of Gorman's work over the past few months and SEPTEMBER CAN'T COME SOON ENOUGH! I'm also super excited that Gorman has been selected to be the official inaugural poet for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris

This was a cute little children's book and when I borrowed it from the library it came with a read-along option and the author read the book to me! The illustrations were very cute too.
It was a lovely story about coming together and reaching out to people and building bridges and community, a super cute book to read to children

4.5 stars.

Change Sings is a beautiful work of poetry, beautifully illustrated, and sends a great message to kids about how the world may not be perfect but we can be the change we want to see. Definitely recommended!
