Loved the big family! Particularly well done: depicting family resemblances and the change of characters over time.

The additions the author makes to vampire lore added some fascinating twists to the story.

I found the action in the vampire / wolf battle scenes hard to follow when the artwork depicted large crowds.

Nothing not to love, to be honest! Great art, a fun take on werewolf and vampire lore, and a beautifully diverse cast of engaging characters and family dynamics.

Very cute middle grade graphic novel with a lot of heart!

Artie is an eight grader that discovers her mother is a werewolf one night. She learns that she comes from a line of werewolves and learns more about her family as she comes into her powers.

The lore behind the werewolves is interesting. The magic ties itself to what Artie’s ancestors did to survive slavery. There’s a lot of themes here about found family and community as there are hundreds of wolves that live together and protect each other from threats. The greatest ones being vampires.

Artie is a great character. She loves photography; in part because it makes her feel connected to her dad. She’s gay and, while she has a love interest in this story, that doesn’t take center stage in this story. The majority of this book is about Artie learning her parents’ story and dealing with how it’s affected her current life.

The story of how her parents Kelly and Loretta met and fell in love was very sweet. I love Artie’s father!

So, it’s a great book for younger audiences. I love seeing a black queer lead at the center of a story like this.

WOW, this was a beautiful read. I deeply enjoyed every panel of Artie and the Wolf Moon. The art in this book was striking, and I was especially floored by the photography illustrations, the night scenes, and the way the faces of each character were drawn. Artie's coming of age is populated with gorgeous plurality and specificity, deeply QUEER (<3), and anchored in the conviction of love. The time jumps in this work gave me such satisfaction as a reader who really cares about the way authors show they trust their audience. I loved the balance of showing with telling here, and I could tell every moment was held and considered so intentionally by Stephens and the folks who helped bring this book to life. Definitely need to purchase this for my shelf!

I was looking for something to read and this was being featured on Libby so I thought why not try it out. I thought the art was great and the story was interesting. I also enjoyed the twist on vampires and werewolves in this. I think the emphasis on the importance of community was great. I really liked Artie as a character and her relationship with her mom was fantastic. Also there is a sapphic relationship between Artie and a girl who is part of a family her mother was close to and who they are reconnecting with. That relationship does start as a friendship and eventually leads to a romance. There were some moments that felt a bit too long and then others that went by a bit too quick. Overall, I really liked this one and great for both middle grade and non-middle grade readers.
