This was ok.

I think it was better than some of the reviews that it got when I first saw it on Amazon Prime to read for free. Again, I was in the position of if I don't like it, I can just stop. The main plot was a good read but if I'm honest, I finished the book because I think Banet created a great world with the Jacky Leon series.

The premise of the book, the characters, all of it was very interesting. I like that she expanded the world and let readers see more species and get more lore and background. I love seeing a shifter I had never seen before in a book and a woman of color at that. I don't like that her "go-to" personality is a mean asshole or at the bare minimum someone who just seems angry and mad at the world but she isn't. There's enough of that stereotype in the world that it isn't needed. I wouldn't mind reading more about Kaliya and her life and background. She's a strong, independent Naga who is living life the way she wants. She doesn't let people take advantage of her and, if you were hunted your whole life and your species was on the verge of extinction, you may feel the same way. If you have Kindle Unlimited or Amazon Prime, I recommend reading because it's included and Banet creates a great supernatural world.

In short, I think the focus and emphasis on Kaliya's personality harmed this book. The consideration of how all her past experiences and what happened to her and her species on her personality took a back seat until the end.

Loved that Banet didn't have Kaliya immediately swoon, change her life plans, and enact the *last resort* plan at the council. It gives her and Raphael a chance to actually get to know each other. More importantly, women are more than baby makers and have a right to live how they want.

Naga/Nagini immediately made me think of Harry Potter, so I knew snake.

I had no emotions when Charlie died. I should've cared, but all I could muster was a "oh that's sad" and I feel like Banet could''ve and should've made me care more.

BIG props to Banet for including Big Pharma secrets and behind-the-back deals that happen with the government sometimes as a plot point. Glad the right side prevailed but I am glad it showed that there was a Fae biased.

Exciting and interesting! Cool merger of science fiction and fantasy, I really like the characters and I look forward to the story evolving and learning more about the world.

I would say it’s similar to the series by Kristen Painter, but not in any real way. It’s the fact that it’s a cool world of magic built into the modern age. I’m
Enjoying this book and series and I definitely prefer it to the House of Comarre series.

My God, this is one angry FMC, yeessshhh. I don’t know why it’s taken me long to delve into this world considering I’m a huge [a:Kristen Banet (K.N. Banet)|20491102|Kristen Banet (K.N. My thoughts: Kaliya is VERY different from Jacky. Can’t emphasize that enough. The two series though in the same world have a different feel. While Jacky’s series felt more like a mashup of the Kate Daniels & Mercy Thompson worlds. I don’t think I’ve read anything quite like Kaliya’s story, would really have to scratch my head to find something similar. Maybe Anne Bishop’s [b:Written in Red|15711341|Written in Red (The Others, #1)|Anne Bishop|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1411439502l/15711341._SY75_.jpg|21378102], don’t know.
Feel like going back to Jacky but Kaliya is also very enticing, choices choices!!!

Returning home from attending the trial of Jacky Leon ([b:Oath Sworn|52384432|Oath Sworn (Jacky Leon #1)|Kristen Banet|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1584233857l/52384432._SY75_.jpg|69856005]) Kaliya, one of the last nagini, stumbles into a job searching for a human on the run. She is doing it as a favour for a friend but then Sinclair a cold blooded vampire killer joins the hunt and things get personal.

Raphael has been on the run for 5 years. Moving from town to town, working for cash in hand, always staying just ahead of his pursuers. Those who want him will stop at nothing and he has never had an ally, at least not until Kaliya showed up.

Bounty is the first in a new urban fantasy series set in the same world as Jacky Leon. It's actually a little more dense than most UF. Kaliya is a nagini and that needs a bit of explaining and Raphael is something completely new so more world building. But explanations are left intentionally sparse with the idea that things will gradually be revealed over the series so it's not too much.

I don't think it's for everyone, this series will take a commitment (much more so than Jacky Leon) but for those who are willing to put in the effort it's well worth it.

Kaliya is the last nagini, queen of her people, bounty hunter and Tribunal Executioner. When a friend asks her to look into a weird bounty ad, she does just to do him a favour but when one of her enemies is also called in, Kaliya won't let him get ahead. The person wanted is Raphael, a human, or so the ad say. Kaliya and Raphael will need to work together to find who is behind his memory loss and what supernatural creature he is before he is sent back to a lab to be experimented on. Oh yeah, there is just the small problem that Raphael is Kaliya's mate, and nagini mates for life.

I read so many other series by this author and I loved how Kaliya Sahni is in the same world as Jacky Leon, and how some of the characters crossovers. I don't have other choice but binge read this series!

I liked this one more than the Jacky Leon books that are set in this world. An Indian shake shape shifter assassin, that's amazing in it itself.
The characters were diverse, the story developed enough that I loved it and can't wait for the next one in the series.
