Met two new characters and find myself enveloped in the projected conflict. Faith is, by far, still my ultimate favorite!

DNF I’m not invested enough in these characters.

This is really good! I don't think I've ever enjoyed a team superhero book since the heydays of the X-men. This is so much better than that. Valiant is trying to accomplish a lot more than another Marvel/DC retread and succeeding.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I received it in the June 2016 box from Comic Bento, so I didn't get a chance to read volume 1 yet. There is an opening page that gives some background for readers like me that didn't pick up the first volume, which is quite nice. Even without that, the book is pretty friendly to new readers.

This book details how the group known as the Renegades formed. It includes some fallout from the first book, which I thought was detailed enough here that I could get by without knowing exactly what happened before without being overly repetitive. Basically, the leader of the Renegades was recruited by the Harbinger Foundation, they had a falling out, and now the Renegades are being hunted. Each issue in this volume tells the story of one of the members of the Renegades.

So each issue focuses on one character and is told from the point of view of that character. But their stories tie together very nicely, and that background information is interspersed with the main plotline. This gives the book a very cohesive feel even though there are multiple voices used and a bunch of smaller stories included. It feels like a good jumping in point because you get to learn about all of these characters in one go without being overwhelmed.

The art is fantastic too. I particularly enjoyed the illustrations that went along with each character's awakening. This helped reinforce how different each of the characters are. And the characters are very different, both from each other and from what you'd think of as a typical superhero. Each character could probably have their own series based on them, yet this book captures enough to make them distinct.

Absolutely loved this volume, just like the first. The character development is great, plot is fast-moving, characters are drawn well and have good lines, and FAITH IS IN HERE EVEN MORE! I kind of wanted to kill the artist in the first issue of this volume because goddamn it, fat girls don't walk around with a horrible grin 1000% of the time; also, you CAN'T TALK IF YOU'RE ALWAYS GRINNING. BE REALISTIC. But they booted that dude off, so it was all cool after that.

I understand that first volumes have a lot of foundation to build, but this is nonetheless a quantum leap forward for the series. These ragtag psiots already mean about as much to me as X-Men fans claim mutants do to them.

A good read and follow up to the previous volume, the only drawback is the inconsistency of the art. I'd rather a flowing same style art, for me it kinda ruins the narrative, come to think of it comicbooks is part visual storytelling, not only you read the text but look at the sequential art paired with it. I am impressed at the characterization of the supporting characters, (if Peter Stanchek is the lone protagonist), esp the character Faith, there is this one panel of the group in the last issue where Faith was floating in the corner of the room crossed legged snuggling/holding the bag tight. I also like her personality, even though it felt one dimensional at times (I've learned another thing when it comes to characterization in comicbooks)

I am looking forward to the next volume, which is the Harbinger Wars storyline. Hope the artwork is consistent, hate to see Kris's eyeglasses change every issue.

These comics are really freaking awesome.

It‰ЫЄs so much fun to have chills when you get to the last page of an issue.

Faith is such a geek. I love her so much. And Torque is hilarious. I love it when I can be surprised by superheroes.

This TPB brings together issues 6 through 10 of the comic. This story arc features the forming of The Team, and an interesting bunch they are. Somewhat more bloodthirsty than I like my fiction, but it appears to be shaping up to being a story of the apocalypse, so not really a surprise.

Still mostly enjoying the series -- I've invested in the TPBs up to volume 5.
