This book grabbed my attention immediately! I had such a good time with this read. At some points, it was a little slower, but not to the point where I wanted to put it down. I appreciated the main character & how she was serious about the task at hand. She really stood on business!
Con: the REAL reason behind everything. I just could not connect with it.
**the narrator did a good job on the audiobook**

This book was outrageous, bizarre, amazing, intense, extreme and WILD. I was absolutely horrified, terrified and rivited. I loved Delicious Monsters and was hoping this would be good as well. Sambury did not let me down and I am anxiously awaiting her next book.

I’m not disappointed by the outcome of this book but I was confused for 80% of the book. The surprises were there!! The twists!? Well damn.

A thrilling, mysterious YA fiction about family, grief, and is told from only one of the siblings point of view. Sunny, who took her name seriously, lived up to the sunshine of her name for the family sake, is TIRED! She and her siblings attend Behre Academy, a school for underprivileged students who have the opportunity for better education. Sonny knows she’s the one who is suppose to lead their family after the passing for her but instead never received those institutions in the will, it went to the eldest daughter, Karter. All Sunny knows is that he needs to take care of Dom.

Dom is the youngest of the Behre family, the outcast and is being accused of murdering his girlfriend. Sunny knows she needs to take of Dom but doesn’t have the slight clue how or why their mother left her with this task needs to be able to mend their relationship. For most of Dom’s life, he has been left behind, forgotten about, and emotionally mistreated.

How can Sunny take care of a brother she doesn’t like? And can Dom trust any of his siblings with his best interest in mind?

Gory book mixed with supernatural. The inception story did not make a lot of sense but the book had me hooked. Was disappointed at the end because
if they were going to do that then why mess up their whole life to take down their family

This book was............odd. Like, don't get me wrong, I was hooked. But there was also a lot in this that was just plain weird and/or that gave me the absolute ick. I didn't entirely like the protagonist, and listening to the audiobook made the bear/Behre a little repetitive.

Still, the Canadian setting was great, and while some of the animal related content was a little much for my liking and I didn't entirely love the ending, this was still utterly compelling and I think the audio was a great choice as I can imagine some of the scenes may have dragged a tad on the page.

I would like to thank Liselle Sambury for getting me out of a reading slump with Tender Beasts. I needed a book with a writing style and characters that I knew that I would enjoy to get out of the slump and she did not disappoint on that front.

With that being said, I'm still unsure on how I feel overall with Tender Beasts. The plot was enjoyable and I liked the pacing of the book but I felt like the characters (especially the main family characters) weren’t as well rounded as they could have been because there were so many of them. Maybe if it was a smaller cast then I would have felt differently. I also didn’t feel like the big reveal at the end was a big shock to me because I had predicted who was the big baddie from the get go. I think I also did the book a disservice by comparing my experience reading Beasts with Delicious Monsters (Liselle’s previous book) and I absolutely loved that book and never saw any of the plot twists coming.
