Simple, short and to focused biography with great journalistic writing which provides enough context for each story point without meandering.

This is an Audible freebie (included in the Audible Plus catalog). I've been following the news and was familiar with Dr. Fauci, so I figured I'd listen to a few minutes but then go on to another book.

This book is actually very enlightening and I listened from start to end. The author has a long-time relationship with Dr. Fauci and the included commentary is very candid. It describes Fauci's strained relationship with the AIDS community in the 1980s and how his perspective evolved. Of course, the book also covers the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Note that pauses between chapters are a bit longer than I was used to, and I sometimes wondered if the audiobook had stopped. Not a big deal, just something to be aware of.

Highly recommended.

Fall 2020 (October);

This book was so eye-opening in so many ways. I have already always understood what was at stake in our country, with the denials and muting of Tony Fauci, but this gave me an even deeper understanding of just how much he should have been listened to. Not only that, the number of decades he's done this job and how many presidents have listened to/relied on him and how many plagues he has already seen us through in his five decades leading this field.

I believe in him even deeper and I'm even more tragically saddened for what's happened to him and his family this year.

Fascinating background. I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about Tony's career and experience with other infectious diseases, particularly HIV/AIDS. I could have done with less talk about Donald Trump. We all know DT is an idiot and mucked up the pandemic response--- give me more science and CDC information instead.

Interesting to learn more about Fuachiā€™s background but not anything deep in this and there were awkward transitions between sections.

This was a treat.

It really put into perspective on what exactly goes on behind the scenes and how much crap this man has to put up with.

Death threats - really!?

I love the line in the book about people wanting him to be God and punishing him for not being God.

That is so accurate its not even funny. Dr. Fauci can only do so much. He is indeed NOT God and only God can speed along the ending of this pandemic. Especially when it is changing on a daily. The information Dr. Fauci gives us might be valid and true when he gives it to us. However the next day this virus can change and make what Dr. Fauci said yesterday un true. Its crazy.

But I love the delivery of this book. It shows both sides of the coin.

Part biography of Fauci, part discussion of the current pandemic and preparation for a future one. Great quick listen.

This is a good introduction to Dr. Tony Fauci as a person, doctor, researcher, and public health advocate by a journalist who has spent decent portions of his own career covering medical news that involves the doctor.

A definite must read for anyone who wants to get to understand Fauci's work on all the pandemics he has worked on. This book covers his work on HIV/AIDs, SARS, Flu viruses, and COVID. It shows the progress Fauci made and the changes that took place to get him to where he is today, to understand why he is such a respected voice in infectious disease work.

This book is also recommended for anyone who criticizes Fauci, suggesting he doesn't know what he's talking about or that he makes mistakes. This book illustrates clearly the methodology taken place to deal with outbreaks and Fauci's role.

This book confirmed my already high respect for Dr. Fauci and it also gave be a better understanding of infectious disease and vaccine development.
