Reading this after Madeleine Albright’s Fascism only reinforced how much I loved this book and respected the risks taken to tell these stories. Ronan Farrow is a phenomenal writer, a principled journalist, a courageous and persevering truth-teller. He is bipartisan and thorough in his telling of the details. This was incredibly encouraging, both I. realizing that journalism like this still exists and in appreciating that this free media is what enables our democracy to continue to exist.

This book is SO IMPORTANT. It left me heart-broken that we live in a world where men line Harvey Weinstein and Matt Lauer are allowed to abuse their power in the most vile of ways; but it also left hopeful that people like Ronan Farrow are willing to put everything on the line (i.e. his reputation, career, relationships, safety) to fight the good fight. I’m so proud and grateful that I am “coming of age” in a time when so many women are taking back their voices and standing up against the injustices society has permitted to carry on for decades. EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS BOOK!
very interesting, heavy subject matter re:Weinstein and all but also DAMN about how many times this story tried to be killed. i'm going to be thinking of this whenever News Media Conspiracies come up because like.. there aren't 20 powerful people sitting in smokefilled rooms illegally deciding what the news is gonna be, but it sure seems like there's a few powerful people who legally hang out a lot and casually drop mentions about what the news shouldn't be or else. also i cackled at the part about how a PI was hired to follow jon lovett around but gave up because he was too boring

Wow. Wow. Wow. Ronan Farrow does a phenomenal job in capturing everything that has happened in our culture the last few years. I was, of course, familiar with Weinstein and some of the allegations against him, but I did not know the depth of the investigation that occurred. And I was completely unaware of what Ronan Farrow went through as one of the first reporters to break the story and how he was squashed over and over again by NBC. He is an incredible reporter who did his best to honor and respect the women who trusted him with their stories. His investigative work has been pivotal in bringing these predators into the light so that people know them for what they are. I also appreciated that Farrow shared facts, he never really delved into his opinion, but shared facts. Which in a world where it seems that all news is skewed by that network's opinions, I appreciated Farrow's discretion in sharing what occurred without adding person opinions into the mix. I cannot recommend this book enough!
This was hard to read. I remember hearing stories here and there about the Harvey Weinstein sex scandal, but I never read much into the details - until I read this.
I feel a bit disillusioned, frustrated, and disgusted by what Farrow reported on. It was brave of Farrow to cover this topic, knowing full well the retaliation that he could face, and I hope he continues to pursue stories of this magnitude. This was fantastically researched and very thorough - in short the work of an experienced journalist. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to know how deep sex scandals and coverups go in Hollywood and to get a sense of the deep relationship Hollywood, politics, and popular news media is. That said, I'm really not surprised by what I read in here. I've seen and experienced enough in my short, utterly out-of-the-spotlight life to guess that bullies and rapists only get worse the more powerful they are. I hope that this book gives more people the courage to speak out when they see injustices, wherever they may encounter them and to remember that:
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
Other than that, this is really making me think about 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.' The author of that book, Stieg Larsson, was a journalist too. It's one thing to think about Lisbeth as a fictional character and another thing to realize that she is the embodiment of many women whose stories go untold.
Straight from Larsson's Goodreads page: "To exact revenge for yourself or your friends is not only a right, it's an absolute duty."

Wow. I know I'm late to read this book, but I wanted to read it away from the hype to keep a more open & balanced mind. Holeee shite.
What a truly ugly world we live in. I thank people like Ronan Farrow for aiming the spotlight on the ugly and bringing it out into the open. ❤️

Real life story on how the author finally exposes Epstein and other sexual predators in Hollywood. The victims’ stories are heartbreaking and the people who tried to silence him are disgusting.
