The worst book I’ve read in my adult life. It is shocking to me how this book is raved about, and how horrible it ended up being. My favorite part was the ending, but not because the book was over. The ending was also the saddest part of the entire book. I would’ve opted to not finish it, but I felt like I had to. I’m sorry I wasted the time. The audiobook narrator was insufferable too

This one's weird, don't know how to feel about it.

I get what its going for but the 'dark humor' and the end did not work well with all. It was just mean and 'Robot Chicken' edgy and I mean that in a pretty insulting manner. Same with the characters but I could have respected and analyzed them but author went to far into the irrephrehensible category with the characters to understand everyone's unlikability (meaning that the main character using slurs and being involved with a highschool student).

The main negatives of this book surround the plot details that are clearly only used for shock value — the book could've done without it. Those incidents simply feel like a self-serving outlet for the author, as opposed to being effective tools to build this narrative.

I found the writing extremely fluid much like a thought process which is exactly what it is coming from the unnamed character serving as the narrator. The narrator is extremely unlikeable but incredibly human; she has a bunch of trauma
Spoiler (the death of her father from cancer, her relationship with her mother who committed suicide, as well as a destructive on and off relationship with her ex boyfriend, and more)
from her past, this doesn't make me want to like her or excuse any of her behaviour and the way she treats and manipulates the people in her life. She is also extremely self aware making her even more unlikable. This novel explores privilege especially with our narrator was not the rich, conventionally attractive, blonde, young woman without many responsibilities her year of hibernation
Spoiler (which in the end works out for her and she ends up having a renaissance of feelings about life)
wouldn't have happened and the alternative would be very different. I would say it's worth a read if it's been on your list but definitely check your content warnings.
