i can see why everyone is so obsessed with this series and i can’t believe i had no interest in it before. i knew it would be good cuz everyone loves it but i read the whole thing in like 2 days. anyway, going to get the second one and booking a trip to universal studios to go to hogwarts IMMEDIATELY!

Love this book. all of harry potter is great. This book is an amazing start to the series. and the audiobook is *chefs kiss*

Despite the excellent narrator, the prose was not as engaging. Her character descriptions, like the Dursleys and Ginny Weasley, stood out in an unpleasant way. I enjoyed the wordplay more while reading the print version. Audiobooks are still not my bag.

Note: These books are lovely but the author is horrible. She has single-handedly driven a massive movement of anti-trans rhetoric in the UK that has led to the passing of incredibly toxic and dangerous laws. If you're going to read them don't buy them new as it will support her. Buy them from a thrift store or website, or find a free PDF online.

I did a pretty good job at separating the artist from the art while reading this series for the first time last year, but yeah, I really don't know how to feel about it now that Rowling felt the need to compare the LGBTQ+ community, particularly the transgender community, with the Death Eaters.
I guess that's what happens when your brain is hit by a Slug-vomiting Charm, and it's definitely way uglier than I would've imagined.
