As far as romantasy goes I really enjoyed this one. I loved the world building and the lore. It was a very engaging read for me I found, it didn’t seem like much was happening but somehow I found myself turning page after page. I empathised so much with Wren, I felt how broken she is and I loved watching her heal and find out who she really is without all the responsibility she’s carried for so long. I wasn’t a huge fan of the single pov with this one cause it made it feel like the affections were one sided as opposed to them both feeling the same way, I also would have loved to see his take on things that were happening and to see him inner turmoils. The couple had fairly good chemistry once it was established that they did both want each other so it made for some spicy moments between them. In terms of spice, there wasn’t a whole lot there was maybe one scene and a few parts where there is play but nothing else so it’s a 1/5 for me. Overall, I really enjoyed it in the end, the plot was interesting and the coupling was engaging so for me it’s a 4/5 and I would recommend it to someone who enjoyed romantasy on the lesser of the spice levels.

It was ok, but suffered from teleportation problems. Both in the plot and in some of the scenes. Not sure I would recommend.

Good prose; decent character development. The magic isn’t super well developed, though. I will definitely go onward in the series.

I loved that this book was a little bit darker than most books of this trope. I also liked that the main female character had pretty realistic flaws and she didn't shy away from her hard emotions. Overall, the pacing started slow but gradually built up and I really enjoyed the writing style.

Despite a questionable start, I really liked Boreas (THE north wind) as a character. It also took me some time to get used to Wren’s personality but I grew to like her character too (except in some scenes for example when
she tried to kill him for the idk 3rd time? If not more? Or when she was still questioning his love for her despite him making it abundantly clear multiple times
).

I’m neutral-positive about this book. At the end of it, I’m still a bit confused about the magical system (the Shadow, Boreas powers, the smoky creatures…).

But not a bad read!

DID NOT FINISH: 5%

It reads like a bad fanfiction that the writer excessively leans on the thesaurus to make their writing sound more educated and their  descriptions were poorly executed.
