I don't normally read erotic romance, but as a writer of upmarket women's fiction, I thought it would be good for me to push beyond my comfort zone. I discovered Roni Loren on Twitter, and she had a lot of smart things to say. I read the book excerpt on Amazon, found it exceedingly well-written, but felt some trepidation with the subject matter. A few weeks later, though, I still couldn't get the book off my mind. So I bought it, read it, and loved it. The characters are so real that the plot is almost secondary. The sex is closely tied to the plot and the character arc, so it never seems gratuitous. This is beautifully crafted novel, and the quality of the writing is surprisingly mature for a debut.

I read this book after reading other books by Roni Loren and unfortunately this one was as good (but it’s also one of her first).
I liked the fact that the main characters had issues to work on which gave them dimension but unfortunately the mystery and the main plot points were pushed aside for smut.
We didn’t get any conversation between the main character and her sister and also the rape and murder of the mother were not really explained properly.
Didn’t explain why the sister was kinda kidnapped in the time it took Brynn to get to her and where she was going to go before that. How she ended up where she did.
Also - would have liked a conversation between Raid and his uncle and aunt.
It’s like the plot was pushed aside for the smut and romance.

This is one confusing book, ya know. :@
It's a roller coaster one minute they were on a quest to find her sister, the next their fighting against will if she wants him, he wants her and all that jazz. Completely confusing, I feel like the part where she was looking for her sister was a good twist on this but relentlessly diminished. Why? It was a nice touch! I would eagerly read to know where her freaking sister is and then get disappointed. I mean she was like in 5 pages of the entire book. Her scene was at least 5 pages, for a story with a plot like that 'looking for her sister' there wasn't too much looking that had happen, it's FRUSTRATING. :@
Although the sexy acts weren't really that bad. (Some of it, maybe not my cuppa tea.)
Really disappointed with the sister thing. Ugh.

Ridiculous plot twists, but somehow I don't care :-)

After reading and loving Off the Clock, I knew I needed another Roni Loren novel. The woman can seriously write some hot sex, complex characters, and intriguing plots! My only complaint with this book was that the ending felt somewhat rushed. This hugely dramatic conclusion to the mystery just... ended! Where were all the details regarding Kelsey, Reid's family, and the entire court case? As much as I loved the final scene (a tear or two may have been shed) I felt that there needed to be at least one more chapter precipitating it.
