TW: book includes depictions of rape, sexual abuse, kidnapping and death in the family

4.75/5 stars; i really loved everything about this book. i kind of knew what to expect going in after reading book #9 in this series, but roni loren does SUCH a good job at having a really intriguing/thrillery plot alongside some of the steamiest smutty scenes I've ever read. both of the characters were very likable and i enjoyed reading their story. we all know I am a slut for the missed opportunity trope and love spanning over years - whew. quite simply incredible. i also appreciated the descriptions of the camp, The Ranch, and everything going on there. there were some things i wish had been talked about more though like
Spoiler how roslyn killed brynn's mother, like did she go to jail for that and how did reid react to that news that not only is she a murderer but she also set up brynn to be raped! I know it was kind of discussed at the end that his uncle gave them the mansion but never really how reid handled that. i just expected more once i found that out since he was so incredibly protective of her.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT JACE FOR A SECOND???? I LOVE that man omg why is it the side characters are like 99.9% of the time better than the main ones?? its crazy but i am SO excited to read his book next and then Grant right after EEK!! can't wait
spice: 4/5 (HER INITIATION SCENE AND JACE???? R U KIDDING ME!!???! and lets not forget the dirty talk)

An interesting combination of second-chance, BDSM, and suspense/thriller, not all of the pieces of which worked together quite right, but I liked it nonetheless. There were a lot of moving pieces, particularly the way the two timelines were interwoven. I picked up on one of the pieces of the mystery early on, but the second piece was really well concealed, right up until the actual reveal, which was very well done. (It made perfect sense in retrospect but well played.)

As some other reviewers have noted, there is an m/m/f menage scene to the book, as well as some heavy lifting regarding past trauma and abuse. Readers with issues around sexual assault or abusive doms may want to steer clear.

This was my first from this author and I really liked it. Reminded me of Jaci Burton's style of writing. Dominant submissive scenes were pretty good but a bit tame. Author flips back and forth ten years for the first part of the book which irritates me and takes away from the rating. I thought the characters had chemistry and especially liked the ménage scene. Brynn seemed like a strong girl but guys didn't give her much credit. I'll definitely try another of her books.

Crash into You, Loving on the Edge series, by Roni Loren
Grade: C-

“She eyed the collection of vibrators, the shear variety astounding her. She shook her head. Dolphins, rabbits, butterflies. Why were they all named after animals? What was sexy about that? If she invented a line, she’d name them after movie stars. The Mark Wahlberg. The Brad Pitt. She smiled. Maybe she had missed her calling.”

Ten years ago Reid Jamison and Brynn LeBreck fell in love while working on Reid’s Uncle’s senatorial campaign. With Brynn Reid can be himself both in and out of the bedroom but those around them know they come from different worlds and want the two to break up. Fast forward ten years and Reid and Brynn are working together and neither one has forgotten the past and the hurt they both caused one another. When Brynn’s sister goes missing the only person she can turn to is Reid and together they go to The Ranch, a BDSM retreat, where Brynn’s sister is. Connecting they way the did in the past bring up old feelings and memories but it also just might be the key to getting them back together.

I love a good smut book and I had very high expectations for this book but I was really let down and annoyed. After reading the back cover and the description on Goodreads I thought there would be a lot of sex and this book would be an erotica but as I started reading it turned into more of a murder-mystery instead and that’s just not what I wanted to read. I was also very disappointed in the lack of BDSM especially when half of the book takes place at a secluded ranch in the middle of Texas where people in the Scene go to have fun. If I had known how little sex, especially naughty sex, was in this book I wouldn’t have bothered reading.

What I did find interesting in that the book tells the story in two parts: then and now. Then deals with how Brynn and Reid meet, bringing out Reid’s dominant and Brynn’s submissive sides and what happened to their relationship. The now deals with Brynn’s sister missing, the fall out of their relationship and their time at the Ranch. I enjoyed both Brynn and Rein in the now chapters but I hated them in the then chapters. I felt the dialogue really went down hill and kind of cheesy when I was reading the then chapters and I missed the snarky Brynn that came out in the now chapters.

As I mentioned before I wanted to read a dirty, naughty, smutty book and I found this to be very lacking in the smut department. There was only one hot scene and the way it ended was horrible and killed the rest of the book for me. I found the rest of the sex scenes too vanilla for my taste and nothing special. One the back cover it says BDSM and sadly in this book the only thing BDSM is people calling each other Master and Sir. I don’t need crazy gagball whipping scenes but don’t sell me a book as a BDSM and then not deliver with some toe curling, face fanning, blood pumping sex.

This book just didn’t do it for me. I spent half of it annoyed at young Brynn and Reid and the other half wondering where the spicy sex scenes were. I didn’t care for the mystery-solving a murder aspect either. All around this was just disappointing and sadly if you’re looking for a little smut this book is not the book for you.

2.5 stars - it was okay, nothing amazing. I found the drama between the main couple was resolved way too quick. within a couple of pages everything was perfect again and they were madly in love.

I will try another of the series and give it another shot before writing it off.

Jace was the best part of this book and he was barely in it. Everything else, despite seeming interesting at first, just got more and more bland as I kept reading. I grew more and more disconnected until eventually I stopped caring. Extra half star for Jace, and also because the antagonist was someone extremely unexpected.

I’m kinda curious about a few of the other books in this series, especially Jace’s and Kelsey’s, but I don’t think I’m all that interested in reading more from Roni Loren.

Also, to all the readers who tagged this book as lighthearted, enough so to get it officially labeled that way… what the actual hell. I don’t even wanna know what y’all consider dark.

That being said, definitely check the content warnings on this one. It can be a lot.
