Finally listened to the first one!
Nice to hear Harrison and Finn's story after so many mentions of them in the other books in this series.

I liked this one

I liked the plot of the story alot but I sometimes struggled with who was who. I didn't form an attachment to either of them either but I was an quick enjoyable read.

This was a sweet romance flavored with a dash of sappy and spiced with a country mouse meets city mouse seasoning. The angst is low, and the characters are both charming.

The narration was well performed. I had trouble matching the character's personalities with the narrator's voices, but it wasn't a flaw in the performance. This was an endearing romance that serves as a relaxing listen/read.

This was a delightful surprise. I have struggled with this authors book in the past but I loved this. A cozy, cute romance ... low angst (a little heavy handed at time but tolerable) ... lovely setting. I was easy drawn in and loved every minute. This is a surprisingly lovely series. Already many favourites from unexpected authors. All nice surprises. Well done.

*** I received an eArc of this novel in exchange for an honest review.***

My initial reaction to this story is one filled with base-level satisfaction. I thought the story was fine in its execution, the two main characters were likable and enjoyable in their overall personalities and their character growth was understandable. Nothing beyond that truly impressed me with this story. I am excited to read more stories from this world because I love the overall concept, but this story was not overly engaging. If you enjoy small-town romances with minimal angst then you will probably enjoy this, but I had a difficult time staying interested with this one overall.

Length: 5 hours, 23 minutes - a good length, but it seemed longer.

Narrator: Kirt Graves and Alexander Cendese - I can't tell you who read which part, but they were pretty good narrators.

Shelves: Series (New), FAH Reading Challenge (74. Book about or by a farmer)

Met Expectations - Cute, but very little tension. This is the beginning of a unique series that takes place in the same location, but is written by several authors. I think I'll read more in the series.

Below Expectations
Why did I make myself read this?

I'd read a later book in this series a year or two ago, without realizing it was a part of a larger series. These are books set in the same Vermont setting, written by different authors. They seem to be all stand alone books, though, which is how I managed to read and enjoy a midseries title without realizing I was midseries.

Anyway, this was a fine story. I love a story about a bookstore. It was slightly self-refrential to have characters talk about how great LGBTQ+ romance novels are--listen, you're preaching to the choir--but the characters were likable and the story moved fast. A nice relaxing fun quick read.
