4.5 stars!!!
Read for The Tarot Readathon (July 10-24, 2021)

I loved and enjoyed this more than Sleeper. Again, I'm notorious for not reading series in order so I have not read the second book (and I'm not particularly interested in doing so).

I enjoyed Alex and Emilia, as well as the simplicity of their relationship (except for the dating your child's teacher taboo relationship issue, of course). But just the flow and how it was written, it was so light and fun!

One thing I didn't like was the sexting. No judgment towards people who do and enjoy it, but I learned (from this book) that I am quite uncomfortable reading such text exchanges between two people. It seems private and somehow awkward.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed it a lot! Highly recommend.

Loved, loved, loved it!! Alex and Emilia were another brilliantly crafted couple, but the precocious seven year old Ryder completely stole the show and my heart!

Kayley Loring's books bring me joy everytime I read one. Her writing never fails to bring a smile to my face. They are funny, fresh, and every child character she writes make me laugh, but Ryder in particular brought out the snort-laughs. He is so full of spunk and he's smart, but he's also just a child filled with innocence so he never does things out of deviousness. I could read his antics all day long.

As for Alex, Ryder's single dad...the actual main hero in the book...he is hilarious as well. The way Kayley writes is absolutely brilliant. To be in the mind of her male characters is both like being inside the mind of a grown child, because let's face it all men are just big children, and also the other half is filled with more or less dirty thoughts because yes they are men. Kayley has tapped into this mindset so flawlessly it makes it so I hate when her books come to an end.

Alex Vega is a divorcee and hasn't dated seriously since his divorce, but when his son, Ryder, begins 2nd grade the new teacher, Emilia Stiles is exactly the woman of his dreams. It just also happens she is the same woman who caught his eye at a club before the school year started and he hasn't stopped thinking about her since that night, so he's chalking it up as fate. Since Emilia is Ryder's teacher and she doesn't want to cross any boundaries or appear to have favorites they keep their relationship platonic, but how long can it last, especially when Ryder is involved?

Emilia is quirky, smart and just the right amount of dirty for Alex. She is smitten with both Vega boys which makes her endearing from the get go, but so do her horrible teacher sweaters and her love of color coding. I'm a sucker for all of that. Her friendship grows with Alex and Ryder, the troublemaker, who might help push things along. Okay...can you tell how adorable this book is...seriously, you will love it. It's a total feel good book.

Troublemaker
By: Kayley Loring
Narrated by: Zachary Webber, Mackenzie Cartwright, Jason Clarke - epilogue, Teddy Hamilton - epilogue

Kayley Loring does it again! She pulls me into a funny, heartwarming feel good romance and fills my heart with love. This story for me was so much fun. Emilia is a second grade teacher who moves to LA to start her life over. When she meets Alejandro at a bar, seemingly hitting it off, she is excited! Until he unexpectedly just leaves. Now she finds out he is the father of one of her students. Can these two make it through the year without getting together? I loved every minute of Emilia and Alex. The foreplay is witty and romantic, with each email and text I fell just a little more. And Alex's son steals the show! The little manipulator knows exactly what they need to make their family whole. Every minute will leave you smiling, whether funny or loving. It's my favorite of all so far!(I think I say that every time, each book is so good!)

Mackenzie Cartwright and Zachary Webber bring this gem to life. These performers just get it when it comes to figuring out their characters. Cartwright falls right into the insecure Emilia and we hear her change with each inflection of her voice. Webber brings the confident Alex alive with his slightly arrogant, flirty voice and then has the best child voice for Ryder! These two put on the show so we can experience it like we are there. Then the incredible epilogue with all our favorites coming in! Fantastic! Loved every minute!

This was the perfect feel good summer read. Alex and Emilia’s story is the perfect laugh out loud, delicious slow burn, a bit friends to lovers and a touch of taboo, feels that tug at your heartstrings, entertaining witty and sometimes awkward banter, steamy and so much swooning.

I absolutely adored Emilia and Alex. From the moment they met they had sizzling chemistry and the second time it was downright combustible. I loved the banter between them as they got to know each other they each had some quirky traits that added so much to their character it made them feel more real to me.

Ryder was adorable and stole my heart very quickly. After getting to know him more I’m hoping that there will be a “second generation” with all the kids. I don’t want to say goodbye to this world that Kayley Loring created.

Ok, I just grabbed this book because I like the blurb, and I am so glad I did! This was a fun, quirky read. I love the concept of text/email banter back and forth between the main characters. Not many authors can pull it off, but Kayley did a fabulous job.

Alex was a child-actor turned director and Amelia was his son’s teacher. They meet at a club and he sees something in Amelia that he never knew he was missing. They have a HOT kiss and don’t meet up again until they see each other at a parent/teacher conference.

I loved the banter between these two! I also loved that the author didn’t throw the usual “drama” into the story. She let the story speak for itself. I’m also glad that she didn’t throw the usual “rule of not dating a parent while teaching their child or you're fired” (It’s just discouraged.). I also like that she didn’t make the ex-wife evil. It was very refreshing.

I didn’t read about Alex’s friends in the previous books, but I will now! A great read! I can’t wait for more!

I am such a huge fan of books that use texts, emails, letters for the main characters to communicate to each other and this book had it all. Alex and Emilia meet by chance at a club that neither want to be at but friends and obligations have them there and the attraction is immediate. They talk, laugh, dance, and then both kind of disappear on each other not by choice though, but before they walked away they shared a magical kiss that had both thinking about it for weeks. Emilia is moving on from her ex and into a life that she wants, and Alex is trying to find happiness after a divorce and as a single dad. These two find each other again but Emilia thinks it would be inappropriate for them to pursue anything. She is his son’s teacher. The way these two characters banter had me laughing so hard and swooning for Alex the next. The attraction is too intense between them, so they keep fighting as much as possible, but it starts to become unbearable. Let’s not forget Ryder, this cute little boy who is determined to set his dad and teacher up is full of tricks and laughter. I loved all the characters, loved the banter, loved the slow burn, and loved the low-key drama. The is the first book I have read by this author and I am dying to read more.

Wonderful Charming and Delicious!

Ahh! This book was so good! A story of forbidden love between a teacher and parent but it's so beautiful and kind, beautifully written, steamy and romantic. It's funny as hell and includes our beloved Shane and Willa and Nico and Kat!Kayley Loring says in the notes for this book that it's an eff you to 2020. Can't agree more. We definitely need these kinds of uplifting books this year. Troublemaker is the perfect antidote to these crazy times. So eff you 2020. And eff you, Brent.
