⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2
Reading the synopsis of this story, I knew I immediately needed to read it! You easily fall in love with the two main characters, Chloe and Jasper and follow a dual timeline of present day and 1960.
I enjoyed this book up until the ending. This book feels incomplete and left a lot of questions and relationships up in the air after a long buildup that occupied the majority of the book. I only wish we had more closure with Jasper and Catherine. The ending seemed rushed and it feels like we are missing several chapters towards the end.
Overall a good story, but missing closure for the characters.

I absolutely loved Lucy's book The Lonely Hearts Book Club and knew when I saw this available on NetGalley that I had to have it.
This book had a similar layout/format to Lonely Hearts and I loved not only seeing the multiple POCs but also the dual timelines. Getting that sneak peak into Jasper's past allowed us to understand him a little more in the present.
I loved that classics were mentioned and that's how we saw the love story for J & C. I thought it was a cute, unique way to showcase their story without taking from the present story.
Chloe and her siblings were all great characters and their quirks added another layer to the story. I loved having their POVs added in the second half, too.
Overall, I loved the story and the characters. I enjoy Lucy's writing style and will read more in the future.

I cant imagine living sixty years thinking the love of my life and my child died, only to have her pop back up and act like everything is okay? Like she did no wrong? It was 1960, she could easily disappear (obviously, she did!) and then come back 5-10 years later when his siblings were sure to have grown up enough that they didn’t require his financial support. She could at the VERY LEAST have allowed a relationship between father and son. Then to rub in his face that she was never lonely, because she had her son. This book makes it seem like men can’t have a backbone like we strive for women to, because after sixty years of heartbreak, it takes less than 24 hours for him to completely forgive her and love her again after that huge of a betrayal. No, I, for one, will not forgive Catherine. I feel it also continues the narrative that fathers aren’t important in a child’s life, in my opinion. It’s fine if you disagree.
3.75 stars | It was an enjoyable listen but not anything particularly groundbreaking.

2.5 I thought this was a cute story, but it felt very underdeveloped and like there were too many pieces of plot. It felt like the author tried to make it too similar to Lonely Hearts Book Club and just fell flat. Also, I was not a fan of Catherine and think she was incredibly selfish.
