First book of the year and it was just alright. I found Ellie to be somewhat annoying and the millennial Taylor Swift, Gilmore Girls, Cheugy references to be a bit much for me. I just didn’t care much for the overall story and l though the characters were fine it just fell flat. Also it really bothered me that although Ellie’s whole thing is being an artist, the webCOMICs had no pictures and was just words.

3.5. It was entertaining but communication issues in books makes me want to tear my skin off also I really wish there was like an epilogue or something. oh this isn’t related to the story but I feel like the cover is a bit fucked up like Jack is literally described as having brown skin and dark hair in the book but on the cover she..does Not look like that

Landed on a 3.5 rounded up for this romance that served up a bit more depth & complex issues than others I’ve read recently. I loved learning about the main character, her background & current situation— I thought that was all really interesting. I thought the love story was messy & thus rather entertaining! There were some fun festive vibes too despite a rather cold sad feeling throughout.

I loved this! I was hooked from the start and invested in the fake fiancée scheme, the one night romance and the chaotic family dynamics. It was all so good and laced with so much self discovery and trauma healing that it had me in all the feelings.

I love a fake dating trope so I was on board when that came up but to have the sibling of the fake fiancé be Ellie’s soulmate/one night stand was too much. I was all in watching it all unfold. The chemistry was off the charts and those love scenes were 🥵

I loved the blended family bits with the two grandmas, the Korean culture rep and all the lgbtq+ reps throughout. It all felt so natural and not added in as checking boxes to make a book diverse (if that makes sense).

It was awesome and I still haven’t read charm offensive (I might be the last one) but I really can’t wait to pick it up now that I loved this one so much.

I really love her characters - sapphic, rom com, holiday, one bed, fake marriage, etc. It's got all the good cliches.
