What can I say? These books are the best. I was 14 years old when the first HP book came out and I’m still obsessed at almost 40 years old! Amazing world building. Great characters who you become emotionally attached to. And they very much stand the test of time. I will love them forever.
I was a little slow jumping on the Harry Potter bandwagon. As I read the first book, I got a little bogged down in how horrid Harry's life was. Once he got to Hogwarts, my enjoyment of the series improved. But as he had to go "home" each year, I would dread reading that part of the book each time. I have to say my favorite was the 4th book. At one point I was completely stunned and in tears. The 5th book was too dark and whiney to be very enjoyable ... at this point I was caught up with the series and had to wait for the final books. The lapse in between did also impact my enjoyment of the final books. I wish I had waited until the series was complete before reading them all.

It was alright!
For anyone who enjoys children's/young adult books this series is a must. I started reading them as a kid and sort of grew up with the series (the first book was released when I was in middle school, the last when I was in college). The series definitely matures and becomes darker as each book tells its story. You find yourself very immersed in the storyline and each character's life. If you somehow have missed the pop culture train, I recommend you give them a try. Keep in mind the last two books are, in my opinion, the best and tie everything together brilliantly.

I am honestly just disappointed in the authors actions the books, films and even the fandom are great for the most part but I can't support Rowling.
Opening these books is like coming home. Harry is fiercely readable, and his entire story is enough to to take you out of your own mundane cupboard under the stairs and into a world where the extraordinary is possible, because belonging to such a world is what any person with any ounce of imagination can't help but dream of. These books are imagination at its finest; the jackpot of reading. Whether it's the tenth, hundredth or thousandth time reading it, closing the last book after the final chapter aches like a physical pain. These books are like best friends, the very reason why reading is so addictive and wonderful in the first place. Since we can't actually transport ourselves out of reality into a world as extraordinary as this, at least we've got these books to act as little substitute Pensieves, because they're brilliant enough to make you believe you're right there with Harry, experiencing everything as if all of it were truly real.
Honestly, I read these books every year, and even that's not enough. Somehow, I love them even more every time. I wish people would stop trying to pick these books apart to unearth the minuscule flaws they're determined to find, and just enjoy them for what they are: stories of courage, friendship, love, imagination, adventure, heroism and good versus evil. When I read them the first time, I was sure books would never get better than this, and though I've read thousands since, of all genres and authors (and loved plenty of them, as always), these are the books I always come back to--I have yet to find a book I'll love more, but I'm starting to wonder if I ever will. And quite frankly, I'm okay with that!

My biggest reading flex is the fact that I read Deathly Hallows in a 24-hour timespan. I deserve a medal.
Also, enjoy my frenzied live tweet thread of me reading HP for the first time at 21 years old: https://twitter.com/LexTheWritr/status/1354570598027042818?s=20

UGHHH I read these as a kid and will love them forever. The Deathly Hollows is such a Top Tier book
J.K. Rowling thought this series out so well and really is the quintesential young adult series writer of my generation. Not only an amazing writer but also a good story teller (unlike others in her genre *cough MEYERS cough*)
