I've seen many Wodehouse books over the years in bookstores and libraries and this is the first one that I took home to read. The cover had a blurb "Wodehouse always lifts your spirits, no matter how high they happen to be already." It was amusing but had a considerable number of references to previous books. I think you have to read these in order. I am now going to try to start at the beginning (although from my limited research, it looks like the beginning was many short stories published in magazines).

The cow creamer makes another ominous appearance, and Poppet, the dachshund who wears his ears inside out, is featured.

I am amazed. Beside myself even! Who could ever have thought Wooster could be so hysterically funny sans Jeeves? I haven't laughed so hard for ages. Highly recommended.

Ending a bit abrupt.

As good as any of the Wooster books. Don't know that I will remember the plot in a month, but it has all of the necessary elements: broken engagements, stiff male authority figures scolding Bertie, indignant Aunts and a nice tidy ending provided by Jeeves. Funny dialog and great new and returning characters make this a classic.

A Late Wodehouse. Very good. But, one feels, a little thin around the middle.
