I picked up this book thinking it'd be a good way to laugh myself though a hideously written trope, but then it actually turned out to be well written! The plot was a little needlessly drawn out, but otherwise I enjoyed this surprise!

It was an entertaining read with likable characters. The tension between Gayle (the hero) and Anna was good. The tension was hot and worthy of 4 stars at times. My only complaint is that the last thing that kept them apart could have been resolved if they would have just sat down and talked. As a result it created a lot of eye rolling moments for me. Frustrating and not in a good way. But if you can suspend logic for a while to get through the whole "I can't trust you, but I love you" moments then this can be a 3 and maybe even a 4 star read for you.

2024 - Totally different experience this time around as I listened on audible and it bought the characters alive in a way I never could give justice too. Definitely up to trying more of this authors books.

More a 3.5 than a full 4, but the beautifully tender romance and the strong writing made me err on the side of generosity. Not much of a plot here, and the emotional reasons keeping the h & h apart don't seem in character, at least for the heroine. But the warm family feeling between the three brothers, and the comforting as well as passionate love story make the book compelling, despite its often leisurely pace. Looking forward to reading this author's second book...

Did anyone else wonder if this was a second book in a series (with the first book about Amery & his wife), but that that first book had not been published? The whole discussion of the grandfather and the niece and all those other men out in Surrey felt as if the author was writing about them as if we had already read about them in an earlier book...

I just couldn't seem to get into the book. I have no clue if it was because it was slow and felt like it was back and forth but I ended up giving up on it halfway through. I was trying so hard because the book seemed to have good reviews. I'm not sure if it's just not my style or what but I don't think I'll be reading any more of this book.
