Lia Fairchild has done it again: writing this masterpiece, part 2 of the Duet Series "Liar".

Continuing Daniel and Gray's storyline, it shows their individual growth while apart and how they came back to each other as better versions of themselves (or so they thought). Lia's ability to continue with this complex storyline and the many facets of the characters is insanely good. We see Daniel fighting between being her boyfriend and being "Dr. Dan" throughout the story. We also see how Gray continues to not deal with her past well, resorting to making ridiculously stupid decisions (Gray REALLY aggravated me through this one, but luckily she figured things out) and overall trying to move on when things really hit the fan.

A LOT of unanswered questions from Compulsive were answered in this book as well as new revelations/breakthroughs. I didn't see the twist coming at all. Gray and Daniel both have been through so much, I never related to characters so deeply and realistically before. Very few books moved me as Lia has with her beautiful storytelling and display of emotions. I will be forever reading the rest of her novels and can't wait to see what she writes next!

Should have been 1 book

This did not need to be a duet. Although it was a good story, things could have been wrapped up in just one book. I also didn't think their secrets were that big. All this build up and I just expected more.

Sexual tension, party of 2. I was SO excited to get into Daniel’s mind in this second book. We love a dual POV. And Alyssa? UGH, my heart for that girl. I just adored watching her relationship grow with Gray and Daniel. This books ties up everything from the first one, but also gives us more of everything. More romance. More backstory. More questions. More angst. More plot twists. I was already invested from Compulsive, but this pulled me in and didn’t let go. It didn’t disappoint!

I don’t want to spoil the twists, but they really got me. Keeping up with Gray, Daniel, Alyssa, and Nathan was too antagonizing to stop. So yes, I blew through this in one sitting and I’m writing this review at 1 AM (better than 3 AM, yeah?).

I was so proud of Gray and everything she worked through. Once again - props to the representation for a realistic mental health battle. I really appreciated the raw experience of what it takes to work through grief and loss. There’s so much that comes with feeling that deeply alone and against the world, running from your inner demons. It can feel impossible to overcome or ask for help. This story is incredibly emotional. It’s such a genuine experience and I highly recommend reading it!

Although I was in a huge reading slump, this book was really good and I loved seeing things from Daniels pov. My slump wasn't because of the book at all. I especially loved seeing the moments with Gray and Alyssa. The Epilogue made me really happy was the best way to wrap up the story

This was the conclusion to Gray and Daniel's story and it did not disappoint. The author does a wonderful job of making her characters be real people. I loved that she portrayed how two people who are overcoming their own demons can work together to overcome them, but that isn't always with rainbows and butterflies. That a real relationship has ups, downs, and takes work. That sometimes each person has to be loving, kind, and understanding. Sometimes the other person has to be strong, disciplined, and the powerhouse and that those roles can often change in a true relationship. Such a warm book about those obstacles and how sometimes the things you think you are dealing with are not the true fight. I hope to see the author come back to these characters someday as they grow and expand.
