Sunstone has been on my shelf for awhile now, just waiting for me to get to it. As per usual, I am disappointed in myself for taking my time in getting to this, as it was a lot of good wholesome (and unwholesome) fun.
I was already familiar with Šejić's art from the work he did with Rat Queens, and although I liked his work in Rat Queens, I definitely felt my enjoyment of it grow on me the more I read Sunstone. The design is gorgeous. Perhaps my only complaint would be that the naked bodies didn't look all that different from each other. As far as the story goes, I'm loving everything I'm reading so far. Watching the romance unfold is a lot of fun, the sense of humour is on point, and the characters are really believable and likable.
I definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a good romance comic, although of course be aware of the sexual content going into it. I have volume two already, and I look forward to seeing where the story is going.

A big positive I can say for this book is how the BDSM lifestyle is shown and described. It’s not shown as just aggressive s*x and that’s it. They talk about the whole deal of the importance of consent and the trust that is needed between the two parties, not just a random person off the street who has no idea what this lifestyle is like. So I really enjoyed the relationship between Ally & Lisa with how they take things slow and talk everything out. I just like this healthy portrayal of it as oppose to this dark deep s*x world that is extremely intimidating and you only have to be crazy to think of trying it.
The art style is of course another plus, these characters just look so beautiful and it’s just pleasing to look at and read. I’m not sure how quick I’ll return to this series to complete it but I know it’ll happen in the future.

to be honest, this is the white lesbian sex fantasy with an audience of fetishizing male audiences equivalent to yaoi's white gay sex fantasies with fetishizing female audiences. the redeeming qualities were that like, I guess for what it is (a nsfw webcomic that got published), it's not the WORST thing ever.... and the art was good and definitely took a lot of technical skill, even if it was a bit bland and the character designs were like, same face and body but different hair..? I mean it could have been worse, but it was just weird and meh.

I mean this is exponentially better than 50 sh*des- that's not saying much- but I think that the concept behind a kinky, lesbian webcomic featuring loner gamer girls and a shaggy male BDSM aficionado drawn and created by a middle aged white man– it just doesn't sit right with me!?! idk it was more fetishized than respectful and just..... ewlechhdshf. I feel gross !!
