The action, the humour, the romance, the tension; you know that you are reading Larissa Ione. I love these kickass brothers

´”All I could think of was you.” He moved faster, his palm sliding over her swollen belly to her center, where he found the sensitive knot that tingled under his touch. “When I was gone, all I wanted was to be back here with you. Only you.”´

The Apocalypse is seriously rising in this one. No one is safe. There is betrayal; lots of betrayal. I did not know whom I could trust. The plot was so gripping. All the way through, there was a gradual increase in tension.

Tension. Tension. Tension.

From the beginning you could feel we were heading for a climax.

Action. Action. Action.

Then boom! Oh boy the climax. The last 40 per cent of the book; talk about an emotional roller-coaster. I was swept away. Could not stop reading into the early hours of the morning.

One of the major parts of this book is the discussion of how to defeat Pestilence. Of course, this is a theme since book one. However, Thanatos believes he could be saved instead of just killed. I have wanting to see how this plays out ever since it was suggested.

The main part of the book was Thanatos and his developing son in Regan’s womb. He is going to be a father. I loved his growing affections for this child. When a big burly male, who is surrounded by death (literally), falls head over heels for a small innocent baby… it is a joy to read. Thanatos has built a shield up around himself over the years. To see that slowly begin to crack makes you feel good inside. We got to slowly discover the real Thanatos. Sometimes I just want to hug him.
There were more things to be discovered in this one too; especially surrounding Thanatos’s past and his connection to the vampires. I love the concept here that Larissa Ione has created.

I know this is a slightly shorter review than what I usually write, but what did it for me was the intense action and plot, and the wondrous character of Thanatos. He is by far my favourite horseman. And that ending … can’t wait to get my hands on Book 4. Keep them coming!

Lethal Rider
4.5 Stars

Best in the series so far as the Demonic Apocalypse plot reaches a climax and the romance finally lives up to its potential.

Fast paced and action packed from the outset, Lethal Rider begins exactly where Immortal Rider left off with Thanatos bent on revenge and Regan guilt ridden but determined to protect herself and her child. Thankfully, their love-hate relationship is relatively angst free as they slowly come to forgive, trust and love one another.

The politics and machinations of the Underworld and its denizens continue although this installment is not as violent or gruesome as the last, and Ione illustrates once again that morality is never black and white and so-called good people can commit heinous atrocities supposedly in the name of doing what is right.

The only weak point involves the inclusion of the Daywalkers vs. Nightwalkers subplot, which is insufficiently developed and contributes little to the story or Thanatos's characterization.

Finally, there are interesting developments in the Pestilence/Reseph storyline and some intriguing hints at things to come with Reaver and Harvester. Looking forward to what Ione has up her sleeve for the next installments.

I will be doing this in love letter form since I read Books 1 to 4 back to back

“For the next eight and a half months, you're going to be mine. Every. Night.” ― Larissa Ione, Lethal Rider

My Love Letter to Thanatos/Death and Regan

Dear Thanatos: You are my favorite horseman! Don't tell the others please as I really don't want their wrath to come down on me. You are so very alpha, so very stubborn, and so very awesome. Regan is a lucky gal to have you but I think you are pretty lucky to have her too. Your love story made me swoon!

Dear Regan: You are a kick ass chick and will be a wonderful mothers. I loved that you were willing to make hard decisions, apologize when necessary, and hold your ground when it came down to it. The fact that you listened to your instincts and let love rule pretty much made me want to be your Best Friend.

Dear Story: You were almost perfect. You gave me love, action, suspense, and made me cry. I wasn't aware of how invested I was in Than and Regan until the end when I was biting my nails. You fulfilled your duty of making me a happy reader.

You also made me giggle...

“So ask me again why I’ll win a battle of wills.”

“Fine.” She jammed her feet under the covers. “Why?”

“Because I’m immortal and you’re a mere human. I have an eternity to out-stubborn you.” ― Larissa Ione, Lethal Rider

This is by far the greatest book I have read by Larissa Ione. And I am not just saying that because I am 100% in love with Thanatos.. Even though that is a large part of it. He is just straight up awesome. Im not going to lie and say that I loved Regan because well I kind of hated her because of what she did to my lovely Thanatos in the last book... and maybe because I was a tad bit jealous okay... But she actually grew on me. She stood up for herself and I liked that. Thanatos is freaking death and while I find that hot as hell, I think most women might find that a little scary. Oh and you know the fact that armor is actual souls. But Regan gets right up in his face. I like that. And yeah so she eventually grows on me

And then there is the whole baby thing. Thanatos is adorable! He makes a crib! gahh. And then I guess you know the whole Pestilence stuff. That was cool.

Obviously my take on the book was Thanatos was amazing and I love him and want to make a whole baseball field of post apocalyptic babies with him. And the story was fantastical too.

Fast paced...
A bit of heat.
Some romance...
The thing that got me to continue reading was that I wanted to find out how the managed to stop the Apocalypse. Still it was a good read and the characters were well rounded though there are so many of them! I really think I need to start reading the "Demonica" series... It might have rated higher if I had.

Larissa Ione, look at what you do to my heart and mind! :'(

I knew that Thanatos was special. It was obvious that he was an incredibly tortured hero, with a lot of anguish, guilt and pain to deal with.
After all, how easy could be being Death? To be attracted to death like a junkie to heroine? To have to kill? To go on crazed rampages, doing the most horrible things without being aware of that? To live with the aftermath of what you did? To want a family and love and yet, thinking that those things would always be denied to you?
Not easy at all! I would say that Thanatos is the one Horseman, except Reseph, who has the heavier burden.
And, of course, these heroes are the ones who fascinate me the most.
But I didn't expect to react this strongly.

Frankly, I spent the entire book either hell of pissed or extremely hurt.

I just couldn't forgive Reagan and her betrayal of Thanatos!
I am a little pissed with Thanatos himself because I think he forgave her too easily.
Damn! He was used, betrayed, incapacitated for 8 damn months, trapped inside his treacherous body, with nothing but his own anger and then he freed himself only to find out that he was going to be a father and that the damn Aegis wanted to steal his own son.
Dammit! I would hate everything and everyone, including Reagan.
I do hate Reagan and I wanted to see her punished and suffering for all the shit she did but, of course, I was not expecting Thanatos to feel the same, giving that he was attracted to her from the beginning and he always hungered for a family, which the bitch gave it to him.
But I sincerely wanted to see Thanatos a little more inflexible and making her work for his forgiveness.
Things as they really happened, it seemed that Thanatos was the one who needed to make amends.
That's not true! Than was the one wronged so the Aegis bitch should have been the one doing something to make things right.

Apart from that, I really loved the book, as it always happen with something written by this author.
Larissa Ione knows how to create and develop amazing heroes.
I was amazed by Thanatos and how, one moment, he was a completely unstoppable lethal force and in the next he was just a vulnerable man, with a lot of guilt for the things he had done and who always dreamed of a family but always saw his deepest wish denied to him.
His pain was very difficult to bear since I felt it like it was mine.
It was like I was that lonely, broken man, anguished by the knowledge that I had lived so many years and that that didn't mean anything because everything was the same for me.
That there was a huge hole in me and that I knew exactly what it would fill it but it was completely impossible.
And then that I had been robbed of my will and choices, betrayed and that no one cared about what I felt.
Worse, that there was finally hope for me and yet everyone was trying to take it away from me.
Gosh, it hurt like hell! :(

I just have one more thing to say - I was really sad with everything that happened to poor Reseph. It was not his fault that he became Pestilence. :(
That could have happened to Ares, Limos and Thanatos as well. Their seals could have broken and they would have become evil bastards as well.
And they all said that Reseph was the best of them all so I am feeling betrayed for him.
I am feeling betrayed because when Thanatos thought he had killed him, he felt relief. And the others certainly felt the same.
It is just not fair!
And now with what Reaver did to him to try to give him peace of mind and a new life, I just hope that is exactly what he gets.
I am very afraid for him.

Can't wait for Rogue Rider.

Lethal Rider, Lords of Deliverance #3, by Larissa Ione
Grade: B+

“You have no say over who I have in my bedroom. If I want to invite the entire Miami Dolphins team into my bed and have a big orgy while covered in chocolate sauce, you have no say in that whatsoever.”
“My house, my rules. No chocolate NFL orgies in my keep.”

Lethal Rider picks up roughly eight months after Immortal Rider ended. Thanatos, also known as Death, is one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse and has been frozen for months by his brother and sister. Thanatos always thought his seal, the one if broken would trigger the Apocalypse, was his virginity but that was proven wrong after one night of passion with the sexy Aegis Guardian Regan Cooper. It’s been months since but Thanatos hasn’t forgotten and he will stop at nothing to get revenge on the sexy Guardian who has haunted him since that night.

Regan Cooper should have been killed as a baby for being half demon but the Aegis took her in and raised her giving her the only family and life she’s ever known. When the Aegis asks her to seduce Thanatos and get pregnant with his child to save the world she does what has to be done. Now eight months pregnant, Thanatos has come for her and is shocked to find her pregnant with his child. The spark between the two is still there and grows strong the longer they’re together. The life they have created could be the key to their future but it’s up them if it’s the beginning or the end.

To say that I liked this book is like saying chocolate is just okay. Lethal Rider is my favorite of the Lords of Deliverance series so far and Thanatos is going on my all time favorite book boyfriend list. With that being said I was very hesitant to start this book because of my feelings about Regan coming off Immortal Rider. Regan was very annoying and I was not happy about having to read four hundred pages about her but she slowly redeemed herself in this book and I found myself actually liking her by the end.

There is a lot going on in Lethal Rider as the fate of the world rests with Thanatos and Regan’s unborn child. It seems that everyone, even Thanatos usually faithful servants, want the child dead and the Apocalypse to begin and no one can be trusted. As Than and Regan fight to save their child the more they realize they need one another. I always love stories where the woman is pregnant and I think that really helped me like Regan and Than together. I find few things more beautiful then a man being excited to be a father and stopping at nothing to save his family.

What I love so much about Larissa Ione is that you never know what to expect with each book except the return of some gorgeous Sem brothers. I love Shade and Wraith so much and always get excited when they make an appearance. I love how this book ended and is true Larissa Ione fashion I am now left with just as many questions as I started with. Add in my growing excitement and anticipation about Reaver (Who is he? Will he remember his past?) with the fact that I have no idea what’s going to happen with Reseph I might drive myself crazy waiting for Rogue Rider.

Larissa Ione is one of my favorite paranormal romance authors and each book just gets better and better. I am so happy with Lethal Rider and it was everything I wanted and even things I didn’t know I wanted. I am actually planning on rereading this book just to hold me over because Rogue Rider and November are very far away.

From virgin to dad in zero to sixty.

Long story short
After stealing the virginity of Thanatos, fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse, Regan, an Aegis Guardian, gets pregnant and almost destroys the world. Thanatos wants to kill her because she lied to him in order to steal his semen virginity. Regan has the hots for Than. Than has the hots for Regan. The end.

My thoughts
I was extremely unhappy with the fact that Regan is pregnant in Lethal Rider because I could not stand the thought of going through a pregnancy-related book. Lucky for me the book wasn’t that bad.

Larissa Ione is very good with entertaining the bored reader. When she isn’t writing about chastity belts, that is. When she writes about pregnant Aegis Guardians and Death, she gets pretty good.

Have no fear, Lethal Rider has the typical Paranormal Romance moments. For example, Regan fucked Than, pun intended, and his punishment is to force her to have sex with him ever night.
Slutty Student: “ I’ve been a bad bad student.”
Perv Professor: “Well then I’ll just have to punish you a bit. Bend over so I can spank your perky ass.”

Makes total sense.

Anywho, apart from these stupid, if I may call them that, scenes Lethal Rider was a decent read. It went on fast and I didn’t feel the need to gouge out my eyes or vomit because of too much sweetness.

Oh, and by the way, am I the only one who envisions Pestilence as looking like Loki?

To read or not to read?
I would recommend Lethal Rider to those who have already read the previous Lords of Deliverance books. If you have read theDemonica series, even better. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, then I suggest you start either with [b: Eternal Rider|8843801|Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #1)|Larissa Ione|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1305020644s/8843801.jpg|12799995] or [b: Pleasure Unbound|2679633|Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1)|Larissa Ione|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1289064020s/2679633.jpg|2704935]. The story in Lethal Rider is tightly related to these books, and you’ll be lost like a cheerleader at Comic-Con if you don’t allow yourself to be properly introduced to Larissa Ione’s universe.

Favorite quote
“Obviously,” Than said, “she’s better. No thanks to you. But she’s having … what are they called? Breaking Dicks?”
“Braxton Hicks,” Shade muttered.
