Calipso (Callie) is a siren who got herself in some major trouble, so she asked the Bargainer (Dez)for magical help. He can help you with basically anything. However, everything comes with a price. She is debted to him and has a magical beaded bracelet that can only be removed if she repays her debt or if she won't, then death becomes her. The bargainer comes to her with a huge problem that he needs her help with, and she can repay her debts . The catch is that the problem exists in the Otherworld. FAE warriors are disappearing, and he needs her help to fund them.
I loved Dez and Callie's story! He is a brooding male who is in love with her and this is true love because her siren powers aren't an issue for him.

3.5 star - The reason this is a 3.5 star book for me is because the main character is a 16 year old in the flashbacks & although no lines were crossed, emotional ones were and this age gap is just too much for me. Although the author addressed the whole “16 is the age of an adult” in their magical world, this still just gave me the ick. Why not just make her 18 years old with the flashbacks, then have the current day POV 5 years forward (so she’s still 24 years old) or keep the 7 year gap (where she’s still young at 26 years old)? Besides this, the storyline was kind of predictable. There were some good twists, but nothing that really made this book stand out compared to other fantasy romance books. Some of the scenes felt rushed?
Either way, I’m still considering reading the rest of the series to see what happens. As long as the 16 year old POV flashbacks don’t continue, I think it’ll be a pretty good series.

Callie (Callypso) is a siren. Human but yet more.
She meets the Bargainer on one of the worst nights of her life - or perhaps more accurately on the culmination of many terrible nights. She calls him.
But the Bargainer only makes bargains. And at some point, he expects them to be repaid.
Callie never thought she’d repay all her debts seven years later, but that’s when the Bargainer finally comes to call again.
This time, the Bargainer needs her help to figure out what’s going on in the Otherworld of the Fae.
And there’s something unfinished about him and Callie.
I loved the premise of this book, and though it captivated me while I was reading, it wasn’t the type of book I couldn’t put down. I was a bit frustrated by the lack of resolution in some areas leading clearly into a sequel. That normally wouldn’t bother me so much but it did this time. 🤷🏻♀️

I underestimated it.
I thought this book would be pure romance and ick, but it's really not. I enjoyed myself and enjoy the world it's brought me into.
