I absolutely love Loreth Anne White, and usually give her 4-5 star reviews, but not this one. There were copious amounts of over personification that distracted from the storyline - the trees, the water, the lightning, the car, a character’s legs, a smile, someone’s eyes, the sheets… you get the idea. It was so distracting that it became tedious. I do like the amount of character development, and the theme was good.

I love when I’m wrong about the ending. Loreth doesn’t disappoint.

This book grabbed me from the start. Enjoyed the characters, the complicated dynamics, the tangled mystery, all wrapped up in White’s usual atmospheric writing. None of the cringe-y romance stuff I read from the last two books. I thought the second chance story here was pretty nice, and my heart went out to the struggles of the characters both individually and as a couple. Speaking of my heart— it nearly stopped at the ending! But White saved it, and it felt fairly plausible the way she did.

One of my favorite authors! This book did not disappoint! I love all of her books! This was one great romantic mystery! She has such a great writing style, and uses such atmospheric imagery! This book was a little longer than most I’ve read, and I didn’t even notice! It read so quickly, and there were some intense moments! I was afraid of what was going to happen, but she pulls you through with great anticipation and satisfaction!

This was enjoyable *enough*. There were a lot of parts that were dragging. I do not enjoy books that rely on dreams, diary entries, etc. I feel like that is weak writing and boring. But the ending was fairly decent.
