reading the 5th wave made me think of this old book with similar plots
The Host is basically about:
1. A species which lives off by taking control of another body or a host.
2. They have successfully taken control of Earth.
3. One species is assigned to one girl, but this girl will not fade away like everybody else.
4. This is Melanie, while the species' name is Wanderer.
5. Melanie is super duper in love with her boyfriend Jared and her brother Jamie. They are basically her family.
6. Melanie tells Wanderer that they have to find them.
7. Melanie pours her thoughts about Jared into Wanderer.
8. And because of that, Wanderer falls in love with Jared (and Jamie) (this part never made sense to me)
9. They found Jared and Jamie in the middle of nowhere - the desert.
10. But Jared despises her now because she's not human.
11. Then there's Ian, who has taken an interest on Wanda, not Melanie.
12. It's kind of a really weird love triangle.
The story was slow I got to admit but it was better than Meyer's other books. I really like how Wanda thinks, I find it interesting and amusing. The characters were satisfactory but Jared was a douche though. And oh, did I mention how much I swoon over Ian? Ian makes me want to cry.
In the end, if you're not a fan of slow stories, sci-fi, Stephenie Meyer and love triangles, then this is not the book for you. Don't even bother.

An old favorite
This is a book that lingers even after it's over. I'm having a difficult time figuring out what to read next.
I rarely abandon a book, but I just couldn't take this.

NOTHING happens in this book, it's incredibly boring. And the dialogue? Dead and artificial. I've heard plenty of people say that it "gets better" after the first 100-200 pages. It doesn't. I'm so confused by the abundance 4 and 5 star reviews.
