Enjoyable audio book. I think a good part of that was due to the narrator. Not what I expected though. Some suspense but it was really more of a love story. And boy was it ever tested.

I really enjoyed this book far more than I thought I would. I also loved drawing similarities to Orange is the New Black which I've been obsessively watching. Surprisingly I actually guessed the surprise killer and the ending correctly ahead of time! I think Chevy did some great foreshadowing. I love how it all ended and I really enjoyed how she left the future for Toni and Ryan completely open to interpretation. Great read!

Wow did not see that coming. Great read. So complicated I had no clue, great suspenseful mystery.

I really live Chevy. She can write the hell out of character and really make you think about reliability.

This was a really good story. Took two days to listen too it but had a really slow start. A lot do the story depended on character development and the two timelines made a lot of that development indolence. Teenaged drama isn’t my favorite thing and it made sections really drag.
I wasn’t expecting the cop to be involved in the way he was. I thought he was just be covering for his daughter because it was very obvious the mean girls group was behind her murder. The addition of the cop teen romance didn’t really add enough to the story to make it worth it. It felt like strictly shock value.

Also good god was the mother unbearable. The absolutely worst character and I wanted nothing more than to see her demise. All I could think about is how many times she was told that her “precious” daughter Nicole was messing up and how she always believed the lies Nicole said over her “screw up” of a daughter Toni. And in the end she still has zero character growth and continues to blame Toni for Nicole’s death instead of herself and her husband. A complete joke of a person.

The authors writing is amazing overall though. One of my favorites and I’m slowly working my through her backlog.

My first Chevy Stevens read was an absolute winner! Thank you to Mandie for my RAOK gift, it was fantastic. A story full of secrets and lies, definately right down my alley. I will be looking out for more Chevy Stevens books - any suggestions?

I loved going on Toni's journey with her. At 34 years of age, she is finally being released from prison where she was serving a sentence for murder - the murder of her younger sister Nicole. She was convicted along with her then boyfriend, Ryan but maintains their innocence. Told in alternative timelines, we find out what happened that night to Nicole, and see how Toni deals with life after prison. It has changed her and she still harbors resent for the mean girls that lied to put her away. Returning to her home town, she learns who her real friends are.

I didn't pick the ending of this one and was completely caught up in the mystery. Highly recommend.
