I liked this. I thought that the author did a really good job making it hard to guess who actually killed her sister. Towards the end I starting thinking that it was Ryan who actually killed her sister, but I was kind of disappointed and glad when I found out what really happened to Nicole. It was an interesting twist with the cop and Nicole. I didn't really like that the beginning was a bit too slow, but I think it was just building up the characters. I remember at one point that I though that Toni had really done it because she was really angry and said some things. Overall I was glad that the story ended the way it did. I think it would be interesting to have a sequel or novella about Ryan and Toni's relationship afterwards. I would recommend this to anyone who like mystery/ thrillers.

Two. Days.
That’s what it took to finish this one. Chevy Stevens is a force to be reckoned with. Each novel that I read by her gets more complex and I think she’s really finding herself taking so many risks with the plots and characters of her novels.
Stevens did a phenomenal job switching between the past and present with this one. The book is told in the perspective of Toni Murphy. Two Toni Murphys I should say. Toni Murphy, carefree and in love high school student up leading up to the death of her sister, Nicole. We also see the new Toni Murphy, hardened from prison and trying to land back on her feet after being released. Stevens did a fantastic job staying true to the characters of Toni and her boyfriend Ryan between what they were like in high school and when they are released from prison.
The plot of this was complex and left me ravenous for more. I didn’t find myself tired, bored, or letting my mind drift to something else as can happen when I try to read a book too quickly. The minute my bookmark hit the page so I could do laundry, cook dinner, or catch up on some TV shows and movies that were filling up my DVR, I was hungry for more. I needed more. My mind would wander to what I thought would happen next. I was excited and anxious with anticipation to find out what really happened that night and who was responsible for Nicole’s death.
This one really flew by for me. I found myself on page 100 when I picked it back up on day two and the time was a blur until I was reading the final line. The book had many twists and turns and I was really shocked when I read what had really happened. The final chapters hit me like a train when I had found out what really happened that night. And what a night it was.

3.5 stars. It took me some time to really get into this one, but the last third or so of the book drew me in and flew by.
Netter Thriller für zwischendurch. Über Ungerechtigkeiten und Wiedergutmachung. Schuld und Unschuld. Und eine starke Frau!
Love this author. Great thriller that will keep your reading to the end. Who really killed Nicole?
I really loved this book. I grew attached to the characters and enjoyed the point of view the story was told in. I thought the ending was a good amount of shock but not outrageous and everything was tied up yet still left something for the imagination. Also, I’m a sucker for a forbidden romance.
Any book that keeps you up until 2:30am to finish is a good one. I really enjoyed this murder mystery thriller. I wasn't really surprised by who actually murdered Nicole, but the details left you questioning what actually happened and how it went down. The ending wasn't like an OMG moment, but it was still a satisfying climax.
I appreciated the alternating timelines, and liked hearing about Toni's time in prison. I was glad the author included this, as it really wasn't necessary to the overall plot... But really allowed the reader to connect with the more mature Toni.
This was my 2nd Chevy Stevens book, and I liked it more than Those Girls.

Received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Chevy Stevens knows how to write characters that you don't quite trust. While reading this book, I had that pit in my stomach that said something's not quite right with the main characters. Something's off. I liked the way Stevens explored how circumstances can change a person at their core. The story as a whole felt a little lacking, just something was missing at the end and I felt a little unsatisfied. Overall though it was a solid read. Not bad, not great.

This is Chevy’s best book since STILL MISSING, still one of my “go-to” books when patrons ask for something compelling. In THAT NIGHT, there were times the pace was so relentless I got anxious and had to stop reading, and the bullying of Toni as a teen and in prison and beyond got a little uncomfortable, but the plot twists kept coming and the ending was a corker. All in all this is another top-notch psychological suspenseful read, something we have no shortage of at this time, and that’s a very good thing.
And yes, I would recommend this to fans of GONE GIRL.
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan for providing the e-galley.

I was recently introduced to Chevy Steven through an audiobook. I SO thoroughly enjoyed it that when I saw this at the drugstore checkout I had to grab it (I never do that - I do so enjoy my leisurely browse through Chapters looking for my next read).
This book did not disappoint. Following the demise of Toni and Ryan was emotionally wrought and filled me with questions. While I was absolutely disgusted with Toni's mom, I could sympathize with her. While I saw how others would distrust Ryan, I did not. While I wanted to hate Shauna and her bully buddies I wondered if we were seeing both sides. I love when a book makes me think, and rethink what I am reading. What is truth and what is perceived truth. Stevens is able to weave a mystery that plays with your mind and your emotions. Well done. Looking for another one!
