It was a good book, but the plot is too short and everything happens too fast to enjoy it properly... it would have been better if the plot had more time to develop...

Well, first, I liked the story although it was somewhat simplistic. Mustache twirling villains and the like. It was sort of like read James Bond. Very clearly delineated heroes and bad guys. You never really get a flavor for WHY the bad guys are trying to overthrow the government and destroy the country, just that they are.
Now the bad part. This story involves a specialized force of Delta operatives that are all female. The problem is that their characters and dialogues are all written by a guy. So, if I'm to believe the way they're written, all women Delta operatives can think about is sex, food and alcohol. They're terribly one dimensional and the author clearly has no idea how women relate to one another even in casual banter. And these are supposed to be Delta operatives. You never hear them argue or discuss tactics, strategies, weapons or other hardware. Just didn't seem that realistic to me. So, 3 stars for a decent, light fantasy that's easy to listen to in the car.

A nice quick read with non-stop action. It was like watching a Jason Statham movie. Very enjoyable and you don't have to think. I will read more Brad Thor novels.

It's a fun beach read. I like the link to history and the idea of an all female Delta team. Dialogue is fun.

Good book. Got a little science fictiony for a few minutes there, but good despite that. I'm glad he tied it all together at the end!

Good story - parts fascinating - but it was sometimes a challenge to follow because author kept referring to characters by first name or last name; some consistency would be appreciated.

It was good, but the ending fell flat. It needed a little more substance too.

Female protagonists: as written by a man
This wasn’t about the 4 barbies that Are the Athena Project, it’s about the men in their lives.
Not even like diverse barbies, but token diversity like the first black barbie ever. Nothing changed but surface-level color. Nothing actually demonstrating the beauty in everyone being different.
They’re all the same woman wearing different colored tshirts, and that woman has extreme daddy issues and internalized misogyny she should see a therapist for.
