Did I think I could like a Turner more than I liked Jack? Not so much, but Georgie stole my heart. This book was so good that I read it in one sitting. And the anxiety/panic attacks Lawrence suffers from? So well done--even if they did flare my own anxiety in sympathy at times. This series is definitely a favorite now forever. I just. I love this family so much.

I loved this book so much. Georgie really surprised me. I mean I liked him in the first book but we saw so little of him that I wasn’t feeling any type of way about reading his book. But boy did Cat Sebastian change that fast. I loooved Georgie in this book. He was so confident and caring and protective. He just immediately wanted to help Lawrence, and he was constantly feeling bad about being there under false pretenses. I also really loved Lawrence. I loved that there wasn’t any conflict between them when Georgie’s real reasons for being there came about. And how Lawrence gave Georgie all his expensive jewels so Georgie would have the means to fend for himself even though he knew that Georgie meant to leave him - that scene GOT me. Arghhh they were just both doing stupid things to protect each other and it was so precious. And omg how Georgie was immediately defending Simon and trying to convince Lawrence he would be an amazing father was absolutely beautiful. I was also smiling so freaking hard at the ending - how Georgie’s wanting to travel back to Lawrence to see if they could be together forever, and then there’s a knock and Lawrence is already there - so precious.

Every read is better than the previous one. I love those two idiots to bits!!! They deserve all the love!

More thoughts coming.

this is just the loveliest and most heartwarming story ever! the characters didn’t quite feel like they were written just for me as much as the characters from the previous book, but this is still such a delightful read! i will say, there was a brief description of animal cruelty/animal death toward the end of the book that i found pretty upsetting, as well as quite a few other triggers that other readers should keep in mind.

This was my third of Cat Sebastian's historical gay romances and the second to get 2 stars from me. In theory her books I something I badly want. There is far to few historical gay romances around or I just haven't seen them. But the story or the romance didn't make my heart all warm and fuzzy. Something about the writing/audiobook just make it difficult for me to connect with the characters and the plot is often to forgettable for me. Many seem to love them but sadly they don't work for me. But am going to give her newest book a try as I'm not ready to give up just yet, but I hope that in the future I can add many more athours in my radar for when I want a historical gay read.

I initially started reading this book to see if it were written as a serious romance novel, not one where a woman is just replaced with a man and all of the intentions, speech patterns, conversations, sounding like one between a man and a woman. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that this historical romance truly felt like two men who were falling in love. I absolutely adored this book and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was part of a series, even if it weren't the first one. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romances. It's well written, the characters are fully fleshed out, and the plot sweeps you along. Added to this is the fact that being gay was illegal at this time, so there's also a sense of apprehension that they will get caught and a question of how will they manage to live happily ever after?
