This book really puts the "self" in self-help. In fact, the endless use of the word "self" in multiple forms was like fingernails on a chalkboard. I just couldn't do it, even at under six hours for the audiobook. I'm not sure why I'm giving it two star instead of one, but I think I feel a little bad. Maybe it's just me, but it was truly unbearable.

A profoundly good read. Tina Lifford's charming voice guides a practical course through healthy ways of experiencing life and tending to mental health. I deeply appreciate the relateable, real-life examples given and am filled with hope and a better understanding of myself. I plan on re-listening to this quite a bit.  Thank you.

There are a lot of good nuggets of information and guidance in this book and I like that those learning moments come from actual stories. In theory, those techniques are simple to implement but in practicality, they are tools that in my opinion, should be done alongside a therapist. It’s still a good read and I’ll probably revisit it in the future.

This book put into words what I have been feeling and knowing in/for myself for quite some time. I started it and immediately had to put it down because it was just toooooo real. Instantly a favorite and most likely a yearly reread.

I loved this book. I loved the constant reminder that we had to forgive and apologize to ourselves as well as show compassion and love.
