It wasn't as compelling as I thought it would be. Slow for the first half. I wasn't until just over half way that booked moved quickly. Had the potential to be great, it ended just being OK

This was a quick and entertaining read. I'm giving it 4 stars because I was slightly disappointed in the "twist" and the ending. Overall, worth a read.

I was going to rate this 4 stars until the very last chapter. This was a little heavy for me with very little redemption at the end. Not sure if I would recommend.

*sigh* I'm actually kind of upset that I couldn't get into this book because it sounded so good, and like the type of thriller I'd typically enjoy. Unfortunately for me, it didn't work out and I ended up DNF'ing it after a month of attempts to read it.

Will it still be something I recommend? Absolutely!

Kept me interested till the very end!

I loved how the author didn't divulge Leah's secret till the end of the story. The twists and turns kept me guessing. Every day I looked forward to my reading time, a very enjoyable book!

I was immediately intrigued by The Girl With No Past as soon as I read the synopsis. The only thing putting me off was the comparison to Gone Girl and The Girl On The Train. I did enjoy both books, but I hate books that are compared to heavily hyped books. However, I think this book stands out in its own right. I found it to be an engaging read, which kept me turning the pages!

This book centres around the main protagonist Leah. We find out that Leah lives a very solitary life. Something happened to her many years ago and we, as readers, don’t find out what it was until nearer the end of the novel. It’s dark. It’s very dark. The reader gets to explore from Leah’s perspective in the present day and also her schooldays… up until the event that changed her life. Leah is suffering from guilt and very much isolating herself from everyone. She begins to wonder if she should start to rebuild her life and move on from what had happened. As she tries to move on, Leah begins to be tormented. She tries to work out who it is that doesn’t want her to forget her past.

What I particularly liked about this book was that it made me doubt all of the characters. I had worked out who it was before it was revealed-but it’s certainly not crystal clear or obvious and I appreciate that. I have to admit, I found myself doubting Leah at times. She wasn’t the most reliable of narrators.

I am intrigued to read more from Kathryn Croft. Pyschological thrillers are one of my favourite genres of book to read and I was certainly impressed by this book!

I was so drawn into the story for pretty much the first three fourths until it was revealed exactly what caused all the events to be set into motion. The act wasn’t even described in incredible detail, but it still left me with a knot in my stomach that made me put the book down immediately. I ended up going to the internet to find out exactly how it ended to ensure it wouldn’t be repeatedly mentioned, then I pushed through the part but it left me feeling incredibly unsatisfied, not in the wanting more, but just in that the story felt unfinished, no one’s story line was truly resolved, plus the last minute admissions seemed forced and underdeveloped.

So good!! Especially if you like psychological thrillers this is like a grade below a Gillian Flynn novel. But still pretty great for a shot in the dark.
