Richelle Mead

4.11 AVERAGE

*4.5*

The first half of this book was a bit slow and dragged, so it wasn't until after that intro portion that things really picked up. I also got tired of Lissa being portrayed as weak once again, I mean man that girl goes through a lot of people trying to deceive, manipulate or kill her- it's either one or the other, or all three. I wish Richelle Mead would have made her character a bit more strong, and I guess towards the ending I saw that she tried to do that but I mean without Rose's help. Also, with Rose being one of the elite guardians for her age I felt as though she would have caught on to a couple of more things than she did. And I can't forget about Dimitri! UGH. His whole situation just kills me, his transformation and the things he said to Rose, I just couldn't sometimes- WHY?! Have to see if there's any hope left, so on to the next one!

Ugh!
The bridge part made me cry so much. It was all so sad. But than of course he didn't actually die AND there is a chance of reversing the Strigoi thing. Part of me wants Rose to move on and give Adrian a chance. But than Dimitri... Evan that illusion Avery put in Roses head was sad but sweet. And all the memory's she has of the real Dimitri.
I didn't like the part where Rose was high during the time she was a prisoner. It was sad that she couldn't see how Dimitri wasn't the same.

Breaking Victor out of jail?!? Is she crazy?

It would be the perfect ending to have a cure for Dimitri. Yet, there can also be a final bridge scene again-this time Dimitri would die. Lets hope for the cure to work.

Oh, Miss Mead, Miss Mead. I love these characters (well, not Lissa) and the world is interesting. I just wish some things were different. I really thought there was going to be a revolution of some sorts. I thought Rose would step up and change her world. So far she's chased after her true love. I get it. I really do. If my husband was changed into a monster I would go remove him as well. Here's the thing though - I don't think Rose's journey needed to take so many pages. If this book were 100 pages shorter it would have been sooo much better.

This is the weakest of the books thus far - I think it's almost a filler book or something. Yes, I know Rose needed to go after Dimitri ut goodness. She was so lame! When she finally gets to him, she falters - understandable BUT here's the rub - she goes all weak at the knees and we have to read about it to agnosia. I was so bummed that the book was focused on a journey that probably should have taken half a book - or have more events. I also disliked the memories of Dimitri e never experienced. Those memories felt contrived and like fillers.

It also bothered me that there were yet more spirit users. When the series began spirit users were so few Lissa thought she was the only one. In the second book we met another and that seemed plausible, but two more in this book? That's pushing it a bit for me. I feel like Mead used the new characters to fix some gaps that were left while Rose and Lissa were separated.

i really tried to take my time reading this book but considering it’s length and the time it took for me to finish it, it’s safe to say that i failed. and it’s annoying because my copies of books 5 and 6 won’t be here until friday AT LEAST. i might just start the ebook of spirit bound as i wait or i might reread certain chapters from books 1-4 as i wait. this book had me wanting to cry constantly, poor rose hurting the way she was. it did take a while for her to find you know who but whilst i was really anticipating that part, i loved the chapters we got before then. especially when she was staying in Baia with the Olena and her family. we meet a new character that rose befriends and i enjoyed meeting her more than i originally thought i would which was a lovely surprise. lissa did frustrate (bordering on annoy) me but there was a reason for it but still, i would’ve liked a bit more grovelling on her behalf to rose and christian. i have to say that for the most part i was loving strigoi dimitri more than i thought and honestly i didn’t expect that whole situation to last as long as it did but i’m glad, i missed reading about him even if he wasn’t his usual self. there were times were i didn’t like him for he treated rose but i look forward to seeing what happens in the last two books in this series.
