I enjoyed this book. I think this book was more of a filler book for this series. I have really enjoyed this series so far. This book just gave us a down time in the chaos that they have all been going through lately. The last twenty to thirty percent of this book is where the book starts picking back up and the action starts coming back full force. With the twins torn between love, family, and duty they find themselves in a difficult position. The gods have also decided that they were going to continue on toying with the slayers vs vampires using their bodies to do their bidding in this battle that’s been happening for over 100’s of years.
I was so happy to see that Callie was finally able to break the hold of Iduns curse but then I was so sad that she had to make the hardest decision and go against every part of her body to save Montana.

Definitely enjoying this series more as it progresses. Montana's character is growing by leaps and bounds, making up for Callie's pigheaded unwillingness to consider the viewpoints of others, even as she learns her interpretation may not be correct. I would have loved to have had more modern-day Erik in this book, though - maybe that would have made up for the overabundance of Magnar, who continues to be freaking terrible, even if he is super hot. Julius is hilarious even if also full of dumb thoughts and ideas.

Callie's choice at the end was a surprise to no one (cough*hypocrite*cough) but it was surprising to see her understanding of what happening during the battle at the end and the action she chose to take because of that understanding. I am looking forward to the next book - especially as there will definitely be more Erik!

I’m planning to do comparisons of the original book vs the revamped book for each in this series in the nearish future because I have all of the originals and honestly it just feels like something that needs done. Because I’m not feeling a *huge* difference??? Idk. Either way, this felt like a bit of a filler book in the series.

Note: I received an ARC from the authors. Decision to read/review was my own. Opinion is my own.

There's always a dip in a series and this one was it.

The first half of the book was very lack luster and nothing really happened. You could definitely pick up from about 70% and still understand what was happening. The remainder of the book picked up, especially in the last 50 or so pages. It was full of everything we had been missing in the first half.

Montana and Callie seemed at odds with each other and when they finally reconnected, their relationship wasn't falling right. There's a strain because of Montana's new views on the vampires and Callie's unmoveable opinions on their experience in The Realm. There are characters I wish we saw more of like Erik. He is a big part of the series and there were times when I felt his POV could have been added instead of other filler moments. The main focus is Magnar and Callie and their relationship. There's a lot of tension there. Callie showed a more vulnerable side and she was more relatable to the reader.

There are many twists and turns at the end and characters start to really define themselves. There's a definite divide now and it's evident by the end of the book. There was more spice in this but I wanted more for the fourth book in the series. Unfortunately, Wrathful Mortals seems to be the filler book of the series but I enjoyed the journey the characters went on in the latter half of the book. I'm apprehensive about the next book.
